WindowBlinds - The Review

A More Substantial/Improved Version

FileFront just posted a new WindowBlinds review that I did a while back; if you look through my blog archives, you'll see that I did another WB review a while back; however, this new one contains some benchmarks that I ran, along with some extra information. Check it out! Snippet below:

Every now and then, we all get really tired of the standard Windows Classic and, for the XP users, Luna themes that come packed-in with Windows. Sure, you can customize the colors of the classic theme a bit, and choose from three stock Luna colors. But if you work on your computer as much as I do, these themes, while designed to withstand the test of time, get old. They get old really fast. And chances are, if you find a nifty wallpaper that you want to use, one of these four stock themes will completely clash with it. And, let's face it, color clashing sucks.

Excellent review of one of my favorites. I own the whole Object Desk suite for my Win2k P3@450 laptop. Like you say, I can't live without it now. Same almost goes for IconPackager, TabLauncher, CursorXP Plus, and most of the other many components. A little trouble with DesktopX though, with freezing trying to launch objects imbeded in suites. Too bad, but still OK. DesktopX does slow things down a bit. I have to say that CursorXP is a real treat, too; and many icon packages are outstanding.

But, hey! Your article: It took me a while to get to it. Our of respect for your fine opinion on these topics, I felt compelled to read through all five of the pop-up-or-under windows that came with your link, so by the time I got around to WB I felt a little distracted. Not too much, I admit, since three of the five were identical. Now, that WAS a treat. Sorry I could not read the two pop-whatevers that launched in my taskbar but never displayed -- alt-F4 was all I could do on those.

Anyway, keep up the good work. Gems among the weeds, so to speak. Keep at it.

Great!

The only probelm is that pop up they have on their website that simulates a microsoft warning message.

I'll run SpyBot to see if I have any spyware on my computer but I will bet that FileFont has pop up ads.
