Democrats and Republicans

If you're a married person, odds are, you'll be voting Republican.

If you are married with kids, you are even more likely to vote Republican.

If you have a full time job, you're probably a Republican.

If you're poor and think the government should solve your problems, you're probably a Democrat.

If you're gay, you're probably going to vote for Democrats.

If you think it's a bad idea for the "economy" for people to keep more of the money they earn, you're probably a Democrat.

If you're a career student, you're probably a Democrat.

If you have children but you aren't married, you're probably a Democrat.

If you ever served in the military, you're probably going to be a Republican.

Now I'll get into old fashioned Democrat bashing. While I'm not a Republican, I am a conservative (at least fiscally).

But you get a pretty good profile with this data.  If you find someone who has made poor life choices and wants other people to pay for their poor choices, that person is probably voting for Democrats.

I am not usually very excited about Republicans but Democratic supremecy would be a disaster for everyone.  You can only sponge off the productive people for awhile. Eventually, the people producing will say "The hell with this" and reduce how much they produce.  You can only leech so long until the host dies.

That doesn't make the Republicans the good guys.  Too many Republicans are corporate shills and would push religion down your throat.  But they are far less likely to try to use the power of the government to take things away from you than the Democrats.

I'm there with you in those thoughts, but I have to point out the irony in this since so many liberal types were so afraid that the Patriot Act meant/means that the government is trampling all over the rights of the citizens.

Men: Bush: 55% to Kerry's 44%. Women: Kerry 51% to Bush's 48%.

Those values are actually pretty similar. I assume they used to be further apart with more men supporting Republicand in the past.

Income is less than $15,000: Kerry 63% to Bush's 36%. Income is greater than $200,000: The reverse.

Rich people like lower taxes. Poor people like handouts. However, it should be noted that 4 out of 10 of the (relatively) poor do vote for lower taxes and fewer handouts.

Do you WORK full time? Bush gets 53% to Kerry's 45%

Prodictive people vote Republican.

Did you drop out of highschool? Kerry 50% to Bush's 49%. College Graduate: Bush gets 52% to Kerry's 46% Did you go on for post graduate study? Kerry gets 55% to Bush's 44%

Regular smart people vote Republican. But it's close. Some post graduate students are productive (for example those who do research), but I assume that many post graduate students study something like literature which is not as productive as other fields.

Are you an atheist or agnostic? Kerry wins by 67% to Bush's 31% Are you a Protestant? Bush wins 59% to 40%

I don't know why atheists and agnostics would vote Kerry rather than Bush. They pride themselves on their freethinker spirit and then vote for whomever is regarded as less religious. It's pathetic. Protestants tend to vote for themselves, i.e. the more protestant candidate.

Have you served in the military? Bush wins by 57% to 41%

There are probably three reasons for this:

• 1. Republicans are more likely to join the army.
• 2. The army tends to make one more Republican, as military personell tend to be closer to the action and can see what civilians do not see. For example many US soldiers know how grateful normal Iraqis are for what America is doing while most civilians are told by the media that Iraqis hate Americans.
• 3. The army is a safe employer and promotes family life (to make up for family life not happening sometimes). This triggers the usual reasons for voting Republican (see below).

Married people went for Bush: 57% for Bush to 42% for Kerry Do you have children and are also married? Bush by a larger margin: 59% to 40%

People who take responsibility for others vote Republican.

Are you gay OR bisexual? Kerry wins by 77% to Bush's 23% (note: 4% of the population identifies themselves as either Gay or Bi-sexual).

Homosexuals still don't feel safe with Republicans. I guess that many of them are single-issue voters as well. It's hard for the Republicans to change this because of their religious clientele.

Do you think the tax cuts were bad for the economy? Kerry got that by 92% to 7%

People who don't know much about economics vote for Kerry.

The government can do more to solve your problems: Kerry 66% to Bush's 33%.

People who want (forced) help from others vote Kerry.

Liberals feared that the patriot act means that the government is trampling all over the rights of ALL the citizens. Economic issues make the government trample over the rights of only a minority of citizens (what Alan B'Stard refers to as the over-taxed minority).

Liberals are always in favour of the most freedom and wealth for the largest possible number of people. Hence you find them supporting the rights of the majority and denounce the rights of minorities. Liberals only support minorities when the total number of people being part of a group of minorities is actually the majority or otherwise a very large group. For example women, non-whites, atheists, and proponents of non-traditional lifestyle are all "minorities" that have to be protected (and just happen to be very large groups or even majorities).

Good observation.  I tend to agree with that viewpoint.

Sadly you left out one very telling stat. If you are Jewish you vote democrat to the tune of 3 to 1. Why for the life of me I don't understand.

Moderateman, Democrats were very strong in urban areas of the North-East in the mid-20th century and represented Jewish interests. Think of paleo-conservative Republicans. There were more of those before Reagan.

Global warming is caused by liberals and environmentalists. If you look at the statistics you will find that global warming increased with the number of liberals and reached its peak when the number of environmentalists peaked.

This is probably due to the electricity wasted in the rich liberals' villas and Al Gore's many flights to Europe.

The differences I have with the Democrats is they trust Democrats too much.

Look at the facts...

After the ice age, the bison population increased to a fairly populous level on the North American continent. During that time, the earth was warming. After we settled the continent, we hunted the bison to near extinction. The earth cooled. Since the seventies, when conservation efforts have worked to restore the numbers of the bison, the earth has been warming again. I'm telling you, it's no coincidence!

Maybe they were Liberal Bisons then?
