It might, but the planet had no effects on it whatsoever.

Still the beggining part was very very cool

o.O

impressive multi! now make it have its own GW x)

you using firfox?

impressive multi! now make it have its own GW x)

why would you want a moon to have a grav well?
not a MOON

an orbiting PLANET!!!

yay!

but also, having a planet have an orbiting moon would be fricking awesomazing.

does the orbiting planet block fleet movement or is it passable?
in which axis is it orbiting? (looks like x axis) is it possible to combine two axes for the orbit process?

Can things like asteorids orbit aswell and still be built upon?

its passable like a normal planet, they will have to go around it as normal.

X only atm.

still looking into that

multiiiiiiiii!
orbitingggggggggg!
GRAVITYYYYYYYYYYYY!
WELLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!
still looking into that

gl w/ that , hope it works out.

oh, very nice!

Now that is very cool. Wouldn't it be strange if it turned out gamers loved orbital bodies after the devs nerfed them.

A lot of developers for games with a good modding community end up working with modders, sometimes even making mods 'official'. The Neverwinter games did this quite a bit, for example. I suspect if a mod for Sins gains huge popularity, it will end up being officially included in the game somehow

Sure orbiting objects around one planet that were mearly asthetical would be nice, but when you get planets orbiting suns and stations orbiting planets and stationary ships orbiting planets it gets quite ridiculous.

Just finished my second video, take a look

If it is done smartly it wont be ridiculous. In other words don't have objects orbit at an insane rate of speed. The 1st video is an example of how a moon should orbit a planet. Perhaps a little slower. Just enough to know it is moving.

This is excellent work multi. You may have just added an element of O-R-B into Sins. I would assume if ships were inside a gravity well they would remain in place inside the grav well while the grav well moves.

What do you plan to do about jump lanes with this?

the speeds were just to show they were actually moving, didnt wanna make a 20min video

They got no grav well, they are just empty shells

havent given a thought that far. Just thought it would be cool to have orbital planets/moons

ships have these things called thrusters. thrusters would be able to keep ships from orbiting.

very nice... its exciting to know how vast the modding capability of this game is

Super! What happens to nodelines?

Id like to adresse to ppl that this is just for show, its not really orbiting planets.

Well to explain what i did, and its the most simple mod ive ever done.
I just changed the kol and sova's mesh files to the desert/volcanic and gas.

And trust me ive tried for very long to see if it would be possible to make them as normal planets but AFAIK it CANT be done.

so that really isnt an orbit, you simply made a ship into a big mesh and then sent it in circles?

you know, thats what I initially thought you did, I have too much faith in you multi.

*sigh*

The point being is that when we get the mod tools i guess we can make an infinit loop around a planet/star and make them just for show.

And i dont think its even possible to make them "real" planets unless we re-encode stuff in the engine.

still multi, thats not automatic, which makes it cheap, which makes me angry-ish, which isnt my form of happynessness.

And i dont think its even possible to make them "real" planets unless we re-encode stuff in the engine.

then replace the debris with planet mesh
