StarForce and Space Rangers 2

I heard a few people talking on the galciv2 forums about Space Rangers 2, and it sounded pretty cool. So I saw it at the store today for 20$, and saw it came with Space Rangers 1 too. I thought this was a pretty good deal. That is until I went and installed the game, then up pops this cryptic fucking starforce error... Starforce, I thought to myself; yep, I got screwed over. Of course the game won't run at all and I don't want that starforce garbage on my pc. So is there anyway to play the game without starforce fucking everything up, besides having to rebuy it off of SDC? (which i'm not doing, I'll rot before I give the company that made the game and put starforce on it another cent..) Or am I out 20$

Well, they have done some good. They brought Darwinia to American retail, which doesn't require StarForce (or even the CD) to play.

While I don't much like the program (especially after what they did to Stardock), it hasn't ever given me any problems, so I'm not to the boycott stage yet.

Guess it was a good buy to get it through TotalGaming. Haven't had any issues with it and it is a fun game. Sorry to hear about your Starfarce problem, I had read about the original disced game coming with that crap on it. I think I'd be running my PC through decontamination procedures at this point.

I fear you are out of $20. It is too bad you haven't bought it throught TGN first, since the TGN version has no copy protection

You could try entering cour cd key in stardock central via tools register products(if you have any) and download space rangers from tng. i am not certain if your key will work though.

That won't work. Only Stardock games are supported between retail and SDC.

CoRed - You could try to take the game back to the store and see if they'll give you a refund. As others have said, the version on TGN doesn't use StarForce. Otherwise I think you are screwed.

Oh well. It was only 20$, and It came with spacerangers 1 which doesn't have the copy protection, and it seems like a pretty fun game in it's own right. Maybe I will grab it from TNG when I buy some tokens for SoaSE. Perhaps I'll be less ticked off then about having to buy it twice
