Hello, my name is Muggaz, and I am a Troll!

the good looking charismatic kind ;)

Hello, my name is Muggaz, and I am a troll.

I like to question people’s way of thinking, I like to perhaps through a spanner in the works every now and then.

As a Troll, you really have to have a dynamic personality, and I am glad to say, that whilst dynamic, I am ever steadfast in what I believe.

There are some people who are only part time trolls – i.e. they turn into trolls at certain times, however, generally they refrain from sharing their opinion, because of a valid fear of ostracism from those who don’t like trolls…

My understanding of a Troll was someone who has nothing constructive to add at all? Someone who picks a fight, just for the sake of picking a fight… When I thought this was the definition of troll, I must admit, I wasn’t so proud to be a troll… It affected my status within the community.

I am more proud than ever to call myself a troll now, because my definition of a troll has been subject to change because of my ‘trolling’

Standing up and saying what I believe, this is an important aspect of who I am – apparently, this makes me a Troll.

Trolls - by my definition, add a bit of flavour to the atmosphere. Unfortunately, I have a somewhat overbearing persona, and people perhaps take me for more of a Troll than I really am!

I am somewhat inspired by the term troll in reference to me, because it means I have really gotten to someone, and they only way they can deal with it is abuse the system.

A Blog site where people are encouraged to agree with the powers that be – well, I won’t ever let happen… well, not in this site at least, because the powers that be have whack ideas and are so ignorant to other viewpoints, they are classed as troll viewpoints. This is not true all the time, those powers often have valid and insightful opinions; you had just better not disagree with them!!!

At JU – I am a Troll – Loud and Proud!

Muggaz - Sweet mother of pete...don't tell me you are falling into this "powers that be" business now too? Has it occurred to you that the "powers that be" which make you lose points are the opinions of the JU community and not some bizarre conspiracy of people who don't agree with you? I never give your thoughtful remaks trollings and I even skip over the ones where you obviously missed reading some salient point in another person's article and correct yourself later in the thread. It is when people leave a non-constructive comment or a comment that was clealy addressed in the body of the article that earns a trolling mark from me anyways. Well occasionally ad hominem attacks, but I have never seen you make any of those.

I get trolling on my comments as well...it is just the risk you take when you comment on someone elses blog.

I am at work Marco!!! hehe...

Greywar - what kind of site encourages an atmosphere where if you disagree, you lose points - which effectively means status!

reeks of Fascism... I have nothing against the Powers the be as people, it's just they have a whack definition of what trolling is, and I know it was them, because the amount of points I have lost could only from an admin trolling me... I am not your regular pleb, I dont put up with it, so If i have to be a Troll, I might as well be proud of it.

Trollin is a risk you take, but because my opinion differs so greatly, I should technically be scared to make my opinion known... how unfortunate for those that consider me a troll that I dont care if i lose points... If i have to lose points to make a point, whatever!!!

I hold one of those as well (that is that damn aussie schedule) and i find that it messes me up constantly.

I find that depending what day it is and the tide of my mood, i work on several international times.

New York time one day, Paris time the next.

I fear i won't live long.

That is called public opinion in most places, not fascism.... the public here has 8many* people who espouse things they don't agree with and for publicly espousing them the aforementioned folks lose status in society. They get no credibility. Why do yo think the JU community would be any different?

Just like folks in any community who have political views that other find outrageous or distasteful you have to realize that they are free to exercise their own rigths to either deny you social standing, not patronize a business you own, or what have you.

Additionally I think when you mentioned in a recent thread that you had lost 300 points there were plenty of power users or higher who were at complete loggerheads with you there over the comments you made. Not for their "politics'  but because they were aimed at points the article didn't make! You implied that Karmagirl was in favor of stagnation in an article where she was urging individuals to take action. It was paralogia that earned a trolling rating, not politics.

Way to go Muggaz ....always be proud of standing up for what you believe in.

If people only want agreement ....why bother posting an article and opening it for other's opinions?

As long as the comments are relevent to the article and not just childish name calling ... I don't see the problem.

are relevent to the article

I agree, relevant does not = contrary to what the article said in print though.

I won't troll you on this any further Muggaz. I understand your frustraion with the points loss, but we all play in the same sandbox here and all take the same chance of getting a little in our eyes once in a while. I don't think the number 5 guy on a website could have been oppressed too much.

Ahhh Muggaz the friendly Troll, hehe! I don't really understand the whole trolling thing, but from your definition it should be something to be proud of! No matter what you should stick to your opinions, and what you believe in and you shouldn't back down just because others don't agree with you. Heallthy debate is a good thing, it would be very boring if we all agreed on everything. Difference is what takes us forward, and helps develop us as people.

About the time difference thing, so much sleep deprivation, i have no idea what time I'm working on!!!

You missed my point mate...

The whining she was complaining about was merely a Stage 1 that Brad referred to.

I was under the impression that because she didn't like whingers, she expected leaders to get things done on intuition alone...

It was their inability to see a different perspective that earned me trolling.

Hahahaha... ask admins for the numbers mate... you would be surprised!!! Its just the fact that I am such an excellent troll I have been able to stay up! I think it's funny, because people have obviously tried ever so hard to bring me down...

I laugh in their face.

Anybody who says anything that the powers to be at a site disagrees with is a troll. For example, giving a well thought out argument on the disadvantages of Macs at a Mac site would earn you the troll label there.

Hahahaha... This is absolutely brilliant!

You guys are alright It's good to see freedom of expression is still alive and well within some of us!

For christ's sake Muggaz, you're the ranked 5th on the site. How can you possibly argue that having "unpopular" opinions causes a loss in status when you're ranked that high?

KarmaGirl writes far more than you do and is one of the "powers" of the site and she's ranked far below you are. I just don't see how you can argue this given the obvious reality that what you say isn't the case.

Way to stand up for what you believe in Muggaz. Unfortunately, at least in this article, it really seems like you are trying to play the "victim card", and it seems below you to me. At the same time you talk about willingly losing points for what you believe in you bemoan the very point system and your apparent loss of points due to being labeled a "troll". So which matters more? Being victimized for losing points or making your point and screw the point system?

I use the trolling button very infrequently, and have never used it on you. I have no problem hearing other's opinion, no matter how different from mine it may be. I think you should continue to stand up and say what you believe. But don't play the victim as it can severely undermine one's credibility.

Just a thought.

Brad, pay attention - I dont care about the point - what I do care about it being trolled just for presenting a different side of the argument... I would call that abuse of the system... or suppresion of a differing opinion, or fascism... However, it's your site, and if you think Ang trolling me in this particular situation is fine, whatever...

If she didn't want people to comment on her blog, she should have made it so.

BAM!!!

BlueDev.... I dont have a 'victim card' in my hand...

It's not my style... If you think this is complaining, or if i am upset about a personal injustice, fair enough - but you can tell from the support shown here, its a community based issue.

Once again, I dont bemoan the points system, I bemoan the abuse of said system.

BAM!!!

Go back when you aren't feeling so persecuted and read your own posts Muggaz. The first one just screams of playing the victim. You tell us all about how you stand up for your beliefs (which I applaud) and then bemoan how being a troll affected your status in the community. You then talk about your new definition of Troll and comment on how it has led others to abuse the system to get at you. I don't see how it can come of as anything else. I have read it multiple times to see it from a different perspective so as not to say something without really thinking it through, but every time come to the same conclusion.

Standing up for what you believe in is admirable, but inventing and advertising some plot against you by the "ignorant" powers that be with their "whack ideas" (paraphrasing you a bit there) just reeks of a sense of victimization to me. If I am taking it wrong, so be it and I will leave it at that.

Written words are easily misinterpreted.

Obviously I have been able to maintain my 'status' but the argument wasn't about 'my' status necessarily - it's about the ability of the powers that be to take away status from someone - just because THEY dont agree.

I will just chuck in a couple of Waa Waa's and then we can both be right

BAM!!!

lol, I like the "Waa Waa's". Very nicely done there. Like I said, no big deal, it just didn't seem like you to play the victim, and that was how I read it. But it is very true that written words can often be misinterpreted.
