My Pick For Prez

May the Best Man Win

With a year left to think about the presidential election, I'm at this point zeroing in on Huckabee. Actually I think I've pretty much decided. I think President Huckabee has a nice ring to it. My number one criteria for President is integrity and he qualifies.

He was the candidate who won hands down the Values Voter Presidential Debate in September. So many others feel the same about his fine character. He's a pro-family, pro-marriage, pro-borders, less government, strongly against Islamo-fascism and a strong family man. I've said it before. I'll only vote for a man who is a strong leader in his own home. If one cannot lead his home how can I expect him to lead a nation? .

Rasmussen Reports (polling firm) says right now there is no clear GOP frontrunner. During the 2004 presidential election the Rasmussen Reports was the only one to project both Bush and Kerry's vote total within half a percentage point of the actual outcome.

Now we know that Huckabee came in second in Iowa with very little money in comparison to the other candidates. One figure I read was he had five cents to the dollar that Mitt Romney had. How many know that according to the accurate Rasmussen poll, Huckabee is only 8 points behind Hillary Clinton (48 to 40 percent) and 9 points behind Barack Obama (47 to 38 percent)?

Even Bill Clinton is watching Huckabee. He feels that this is the only GOP hopeful saying on ABC "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" that Huckabee is the "only dark horse that's got any kind of chance .... He's the best speaker they've got."

Newt Gringich said, "If Huckabee can find money, he will be dramatically competitive almost overnight."

My prediction is it's going to come down to Huckabee or Hillary. I just pray and hope it's Huckabee in the end. It doesn't matter much how one starts a race, it's all in the finish.

I agree with you KFC. I thinking Huckabee is going to be the underdog that can.

Fred Thompson's entry sets him back but I think once they second tier is culled away the race will change in dynamics drastically.

I'm seeing McCain drifting down river. Romney will remain flat. Guilliani will be a strong debater as he is proving himself to be.

As for quality of candidate I'm pretty pleased with Huckabee.

I see the same for those people. I still maintain it is Fred's to lose. Mike will not get it for one BIG reason that has nothing to do with his policies or politics. But with his home state.

But then I picked the Mets to win this year, so dont listen to me.

I honestly don't understand why more of the Christian Right aren't supporting Huckabee. James Dobson should have came out in support of Huckabee instead of saying that they would possibly run a third party candidate if Guiliani got the nomination. I had read an article yesterday that said more of the Christian right are now supporting Romney. It seems that Guiliani and Romney are the front runners. I still like McCain. Time will tell though it seems like the press has it as a Guiliani/Clinton match up. Obviously the Republicans all think she will be the nominee or they wouldn't have spend so much of the debate attacking her.

Here might be why.

Hillary's poll numbers have her creeping on 50% (48.2% RCP average). None of her challengers have attacked her ON ANY issue. The only minor attacks have come from the candidates' wife. It seems that everyone else is auditioning for VP on the ballot.

That's my view of why many are saying she will be the nominee. HOWEVER it is still very early.

Mike will not get it for one BIG reason that has nothing to do with his policies or politics.

I am hopeful for different but I think I'm seeing hints of Thompson/Huckabee on the ticket.

me too. I think if we all got together and united he'd be a shoo in. But it seems we can't get our act together. I'm not sure what Dobson has said about Huckabee in all this but I did first hear Huckabee on his radio program quite a while ago and he impressed me then. This was way before I heard about him as presidential hopeful.

Yes, and I never go by the press. It seems like they always have it wrong. Their job is to try and convince us, but they're not very good at this endeavor.

Thompson is the most uninspiring candidate of the bunch.

The other day, they had "Thompson" on Saturday Night Live. In the "debate", he was asked, "How bad do you want to be president?"

His answer (and the way Thompson acts, it's not far from the mark)? "On a scale of 1 to 10, I'll say 6."

Plus, his wife is far too young and hot for it to not look gross. Blegh.
