Star Trek "Warp effect"

Is it possible to mod the time it takes to "ChargeUp" prior to entering hyperspace? I've managed to mod the textures that are used during ChargeUp and Travel to resemble that of Star Trek, however I can't quite get the sound right. My Trek "enter warp" sound is alot shorter then the stock "ChargeUp" sound.

I've included a pic of my current status with the warp effect:

I've tried to localize all the textures associated with the ChargeUp and Travel effects, however i'm not sure if I got them all. Could someone in the know, please direct me to the exact filenames that are used for these effects?

O.o

People are already hard at work at way to many mods. Especially since the modding tools haven't gotten released yet -- how are you doing this!?

Well, atm i'm mostly fiddling with the textures. I think i've gotten all the stock textures changed that involves the "hyperspace" or "warp" effect. Only thing missing for the warp effect mod to be complete, is getting the sounds working properly. That's why I need to know if it's possible to modify the time it takes for a ship to ChargeUp prior to warping/jumping.

ever consider just adding a few seconds of blank audio to the sound file at the beginning so it matches up?

Say hello to my =digital Underground= clan mate, and fellow modder. Welcome Thunder

The texture work looks very good. As for the charge up time, There is no need to alter the sound timing. The time to go to warp should be a simple text entry in one of the entity files. I dont know which one right off hand but ill search around and see if i can pull it off.

The warping is kida weird now. I don't like the arrow effect (the "field" surrounding the ship) and the slight SW random time delay - as someone proposed - for ships when jumping as a group would make a nice addition. A candy.

baseHyperspaceChargeUpTime 7.000000

in the file PlayerTech.entity.

Happy modding.

Its pretty much a given that for any sci fi game out there, that is moddable and not already locked into one of the two, either a star trek or a star wars mod will crop up, and potentially both.

Im sorry this is kind of unrelated but having never played the game I was wondering is "jumping" instantaneous or is it like going to warp from Star Trek. And if it is like warping are there ways to increase your ships warp speeds? And in either case can you detect incoming ships using faster than light travel before they get into your system, or in the case of instantaneous travel before they left the original system?

"Jumping" -- referring to the phase jump phase mechanic, right? -- allows ships to travel both intrastellar (between grav wells in the same system along existing phase lines) and interstellar (from any star to any star) travel. You have a charge up time (reduced by some technologies) and a transit time (flying between the locations, increased by an artifact). You can research "PSIDAR" (Phase Space Interference Detection and Ranging, at best guess), which allows the detection of enemy vessels in phase space up to two jumps away from friendly planets.
