Extreme Colonization and Planet Flips/Takeover

I'd like to suggest that if an Extreme Colonization planet of some type comes over to our side (via influence flipping or outright takeover), the planet at least keep working as it was. It makes no sense that just because the planet now falls under a different government, the colonists forget how to colonize the very planet they're on. I don't expect the technical knowledge to come over as though I'd stolen it or gotten it via invasion (though that might be nice). But, just letting that one planet continue as before makes sense. It's sort of tiresome to have to rush develop an Extreme technology if a planet comes over to the Light.

I agree in general with this...

In fact, it would only make sense that flipping a planet like that would grant a slow learning of colonization of such a planet. This would either aid current research into the specific type of planet, or move on its own as your scientists learn from the inhabitants exactly how to manage things...

I just don't think it should be a learning process at all. The colony was working, at least somewhat, before it flipped over to me (assuming I haven't researched the proper Extreme technology). Just because the ownership changed shouldn't mean the colony forgot the very technology that let them land and at least partially grow on the planet in the first place. After all, if a planet with superior factory/econ/morale/etc. technology flips over to me, the tiles using those technologies don't devolve or stop working. Like those, I don't expect to actually learn the technology for use on other planets. It's just that I should retain it on the planet it came from.

Oh...no, I agree with you on that last part. I was basically saying that, in addition to that, you should earn a bonus towards that tech's discovery... After all, you've got the equipment, so to speak, right there that allowed it...

From a realism standpoint I agree, from a game play standpoint I don't think it should.

No, no, no. It's not real life, it's a game, and games need balance. If culture flipping wins *any* planet free and clear, even those with advanced techs, influence becomes far too powerful. Especially in big universes with the Iconian Refugees. Realism is good to a point. This is beyond that point.
