What is the greatest album/CD you've ever heard?

With the release of the new Bruce Springsteen CD "Magic" Sirius Satellite Radio has been running E Street Radio on one of their channels (the channel normally known as 'The Bridge') 24x7, playing through all things Bruce Springsteen related including private recordings, interviews, bootlegs, commercial recordings, etc.  Also sprinkled in heavily are plays of songs from the new disc.

Anyway, Sirius has also offered the opportunity to fans to have them call in and be guest music jockeys, introducing their favorite recordings and songs, or sharing their own private recordings and such (and offering up stories about seeing Springsteen in concert, etc.).  One such fan was introducing the song Jungleland earlier and in doing so described it as the final song on what is (their words) perhaps the greatest rock and roll album of all time: Born to Run.

It leads me to the question in the headline for this article -- what is, in your not so humble opinion (big wide grin), the greatest album/CD you've ever heard?

For purposes of this discussion, please confine your responses to commercially available recordings, or at least to pre-recorded music, rather than mix-tapes, home brew CD compilations, etc.

My own reply will be in the comments area, but I'm curious what others own favorites are and why those choices were made so please speak up and tell everyone what your choices would be.

Going into revealing this choice with the notion that the choice I would make would be something that stands the test of time and continues to hold up long after it was originally recorded and released, I'd have to say that the choice made by the Springsteen fan is a pretty darned good one.  Born to Run is a classic from top to bottom, setting the stage for a successful career for Springsteen and helping him to reach commercial success and success in reaching an audience on rock and roll stations.  Is that my own choice though?  That is a very tough call.

I could offer up Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon as an alternative and I think many would have a hard time disagreeing (they may not be fans, but it's hard to argue with a compilation that stayed on the billboard charts well into it's existence).  Dark Side had so many great songs on it, even if it was confined to album rock stations and use as a background jingle (Money anyone?) sound.

There are other choices that I might consider too, though I have a tough time coming up with those on the spur of the moment.  Again though, perhaps you have your own choices and can persuade me of the level of greatness of those choices here.

That's a tough one for me as I have several favorites that I think are all the greatest in their own right including Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, Aqualung, and The Golden Road. I don't think I could say one of them is 'the greatest'.

The Dark side of the moon is a good one.

But I have to go with Days of Future Passed.  It was radical for its time, and it still is.  To have a rock band perform with a Pop Orchestra.

I have to offer 3 choices....

Dark Side of the Moon... obvious...
Metropolis 2000 PT 2 by Dream Theatre
And Powerslave by Iron Maiden... Though my wife has me listening to 7th son of a 7th son and that might end up taking over powerslave.. though I do love the song Rime of the Ancient mariner.

To me (an oldie), the greatest CD/record ever made was the one with John Lennon's "Imagine".
