Suggestion: Ship Deletion Option on Game Start

This is a really low priority suggestion. It would be nice if GalCiv gave an option on the start of a new game to delete all old ship models (I know this is anathema to all you ship modders out there. But, my ships are just quick 'n dirty throw aways). I can always do this manually by going into each of the "ship" folders under the game folder. But, usually, I forget. There'd have to be suitable warnings to stop people from doing this without thinking about it. But, for me, it'd be nice.

I'll have to give that a try. I'll have to confess that I don't even understand the option. How does it remember my ship designs across sessions unless it saves them to the hard drive? I'll check it out and report back. Thanks.

EDIT: I did a search of the game manual and came up with this:

"Save Ship Designs to Hard Drive: If this option is on, ship designs are saved to the My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar folder so that they can be used again in subsequent games. Otherwise, the ship designs remain in memory until you exit, load another save game, or switch between Metaverse and normal games."

So, it looks like that option won't help: I don't play a game all in one session and I load saved games quite a bit. But, I'll double-check to see that that's how it works in reality.

The ships will be kept in the save game file for the current game, even if you split it across sessions. It just won't make the external copies that it normally would for future use.

That sounds good. I'll give it a try. Thanks.
