OpenOffice.org version 2.3 now available

OpenOffice.org is the open source project through which Sun Microsystems is releasing the technology for the popular StarOffice productivity suite. It is an international office suite that will run on all major platforms and provide access to all functionality and data through open-component based APIs and an XML-based file format. It establishes the necessary facilities to make this open source technology available to the developer community

OpenOffice.org 2.3 incorporates an extensive array of new features and enhancements to all its core components, and protects users from newly discovered security vulnerabilities. It is a major release and all users should download it.

Plus: It is only with 2.3 that users can make full use of the growing extensions library.

Thanks for the update. While I have Office 2003 and 2007 on two computers (because I was able to get them at no cost to me), I love openoffice.org's features and bundle it on every secondhand machine I sell (as well as using it on my Linux boxes). It has served me well, and has much to do with why I am so incredibly happy with Linux.

I too have been using Openoffice for a few years, although a large download I much prefer it over MS works & Office 2003 both of which I have. Thanks for the update Hankers.

Has it gotten any faster to load?  I hated having to wait what seemed like forever.
