Remember when... Britney, Lindsay, and others....

You know, I remember a time when I could revel in being a dirty old man (though I'm not that old) who had thoughts about Britney Spears and her bubble-gum cuteness that later morphed into the Oooops, I did it Again rebellion and ooozing sexiness that was used to sell a few records as she shed away that bubble-gum image.

And then, well, yeah, there was also Lindsay Lohan who looked cute and perky, and fairly happy while still being expected to be a good girl.

I could go on about a host of 'others' (Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, and more) that used to actually be somewhat respectable, but who have lost every ounce of dignity and respect along the way.

Britney Spear's appearance at the MTV awards, at least from the still photos that have been making the rounds on the various news services (see for example: Brietbart.com) was just so unflattering and disgusting that I expect that anyone that saw it may never buy another Britney item ever again.

I hate to think about holding up Madonna as a role model, but I can talk a little about her and get away with that whole 'at least she never....' when compared to the current generation of stars and wannabes.

I guess sooner or later the agents, publicists, managers or others involved in the lives of the current generation will step up and smack some sense into these people before they find their careers gone faster than the white powder, uh, yeah, from the donuts, that is rumored to disappear so quickly around some of these people.

I swear that Britney Spears looked like a before picture in a Nutra-System or Jenny Craig type ad.  Perhaps thats what she was trying for, with thoughts of knocking Kirstie Allie off as the spokesperson.  Who knows for sure what thoughts -- if there are any up there -- are floating around that child's head  (and yeah, I realize I sound a lot like my grandmother, or others that helped raise me so many years ago...)

Tell me where I'm wrong at here though:

Actually strike that Nutra-System thought, she looks more like she wants to pick up the throne/mantle from Anna Nicole Smith (and that is not a role model anyone should want to be following....)

Sorry, I wish I looked half as good as that.

She has had 2 babies in 2 years. She looks damn good compared to the majority of the rest of the female population, children or no children.

Now don't go gettin' me in trouble with my Mrs. by having me say you blow that tramp away!  (You know you do, you ain't foolin' no one here.  (And again, I better stop before I have someone writing your hubby telling them that I'm harrassin' you over your good looks.) )

I guess the "poppette" stars of today want to be more like Madonna than Loretta Lynn.  What talent cant do, they hope sex will.

Actually seeing some comments in news articles this a.m. reminds me that I need to clarify here a bit and say that I'm not really trying to say that Britney is fat and ugly, but instead should be saying that her choice of outfits and clothing that she was wearing, and just as importantly NOT wearing in very strategic places, is the problem.

If she comes out on stage wearing something tasteful, then there's probably nothing but respect for her, but instead she choose to come out wearing next to nothing and wound up flaunting her flaws rather than highlighting her assets.
