Suggestion: Improving services

NICE TOOL.

The "Services" / "User profiles" optimizations you have are WONDERFUL. This is something I have been looking for for a long time.

ONE SUGGESTION:

Over time since I have installed Vista, I have gone in and disabled some services to "hand" optimize things. (I.e., set some things to DISABLED.)

BUT now when I use your tool, it gives errors because it can not start and/or stop various services.

It could ask in a popup the first time if you can enable it. I wouldn't mind just letting it enable them again so that the tool works better.

Another option would be to ask if you can install a default set of services and their states.

ALSO: There should be different levels of networking. You have machines that need the internet. You also have machines that need OTHER things like file sharing etc. And some that might need NetBIOS, or Server/Workstation etc etc etc. (Hopefully this gives you the idea I'm trying to communicate.)

NOTE: I am using the download version of the program. I should pay and get the commercial version and try that out also. (This appears that the commercial version might allow the granularity I am asking for in the paragraph above this one.)

Yeah id back this option but more specifically i'm a design professional and some of the settings that get tweked can disrupt programms like illustrator and indesign. It took me 1 month to discover that using tweak vista to diable services was the reason illustrator kept crashing, it only occured to me when i went through a diagnostic of vista. I think this is causetweak vista changes the print settings and interferes with the adobe pdf printer which for some reason is needed to save and write documents on illustrator.

just a suggestion either this or it might be worth mentioning in some notes somehwere or a not for tech support.

Good tool though, do notice the dif when playing games and also just speeding things up lol

You are correct that more specific control over networking and other services is available in the registered version (this should be visible on the Advanced tab). Thanks for the suggestion regarding disabled survices.
