Democrat Contributor On the Run

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,295828,00.html
A major contributor to the democrat party has failed to show for his bail hearing and is no dobut on the run.

"California businessman Norman Hsu, a former New York apparel executive and major contributor to Democratic candidates and causes, failed to appear for a bail reduction hearing Wednesday, leading to speculation that he again is a fugitive from the law, FOX News has learned."

If this was a major republican contributor, this would be non-stop breaking news about the "culture of corruption" and other DNC taling points.  However, since this person is connected with candidates like Hillary Clinton the news is barely noticeable, with the exception of Fox News.

Is this the case of standards?

Dems: are held to no standard ... can assume they live by the standard which they are held?
Reps: held to high standard by Dems ... because they do strive for a standard but are criticized by those who hold no standard?

I beg to differ. (I love that phrase.) I entered "Norman Hsu" into Google and found 232 stories on the topic.

LA Times Link

NY Times Link

Quoting from the NY Times "Mr. Hsu’s absence seemed to be a repeat of his disappearing act in 1992, when he skipped out on a sentencing hearing related to his conviction in a fraud case, only to re-emerge years later as a major Democratic fund-raiser in New York. Since 2003, he personally contributed $600,000 to Democrats around the country and raised hundreds of thousands more, frequently hosting fund-raising parties and getting his picture taken with prominent politicians. He was a designated “Hillraiser” for Mrs. Clinton’s presidential campaign, meaning he had bundled over $100,000 in contributions from others. Last week, the Clinton campaign said it was given to charity $23,000 Mr. Hsu had donated, and was reviewing other contributions he helped raised for any evidence of illegality."

The New York Times blog site slammed Hillary pretty hard on this referring to Hsu as "Clinton Donor: Fugitive Redux" See Link
The blog post goes on with "Maybe all those Democrats who have been busily donating his contributions to charities may choose to send their refunds to a designated bounty hunter, at this point."

You may not agree with the assertions, I wouldn't expect you to, but it is inaccurate to say that the press except for Fox ignored the story.

Burying a story on page A-18 is not exactly writing an expose.  The Suitably Flip site is actually a refreshing surprise.  A left leaning site that is presenting the facts as they are known - the good with the bad.  Which is better than the LA or Ny times has done so far.

And now that we know there are 232 stories (how many of those are blog sites BTW), how many can you google on Abramoff?

Perhaps the contention that "No One" is a bit too simplistic in a serious discussion.  After all, the bias of the MSM is not in what they report, but where and how they report it.  The Ny Crimes did report the Bruno frame up.  Just very late and very deep within the paper.  It did not fit their agenda.

And where is the LA Crimes story on that?  One wonders who reads beyond the front pages as CNN sure does not seem to know how to do that.

My assertion is that the media is not covering this story as they would if this was a republican.  Checking the "major" news websites yesterday Fox was the only one that had the story displayed prominently on the front page.  MSNBC had it as a small link towards the bottom of their news, and I could not find any reference on the front page of CNN.

Going through the TV yesterday I barely heard any news about it, but I did hear several stories about Craig still.

The whole point is that since this person is affiliated with democrats, the media does not give it the same coverage.  Does anything think the coverage would be significantly different if this was a republican?
