wait.....

I get defensive very quickly when ppl around me say that.

I have only recently been able to get DSL.

little do you ppl realize, thier are still LARGE numbers (not relitive) of ppl who dont have acsses to anything but dial up, or have the mony for high speed, or both.

ppl who have 56k don't have it out of ignorince or stipidity, but out of the fact the nothing else in thier area is still availible for them.

Even if 56k users that read the article, will still have to download the images that are within it.

Well if it bothers anyone a mod can remove them, just did it to be nice

I know, it just gives me great satisfaction that 56k-ers have to watch the images crawl slowly down the page, whereas the rest of us just watch them pop into place....technology rox.

I was going to move if DSL wasn't offered where I live... Luckily it was , sadly its only 3MB, but now 10MB cable is offered, so I just have to wait for my DSL contract to run out...

<3 10MB

Would you kindly.... calm down....

1 Megabit (Mb), 1,000,000 bits or 220 = 1,048,576 bits
1 Megabyte (MB), 1,000,000 bytes or 220 = 1,048,576 bytes

So its the same... One is a unit of storage , the other a unit of information.

Don't take your Potato anger out on me!

No, your all wrong (tho i dont get what you mean by the 220)
Megabit and Megabyte aint the same. There goes 8bit's for 1 byte

take a look here

Don't take your Potato anger out on me!

Teaching you something, is like teaching a monkey to do physics calculations

THEY ARE THE SAME!!!!!!!!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reply #14 Top
What you are pointing out is Megabyte both of them.

Mega stands for million

Megabit = 1.000.000bits = 1.000.000/8 = 125.000bytes
Megabyte = 1.024.000bytes = 1.024.000*8 = 8.192.000bits

So they are not the same

10 Mb DSL is capable of transferring 10,000,000 bits (or 1,250,000 bytes because there are 8 bits to a byte) from one network station to another in a one-second period of time. Note that 10 Mb does not translate into a 10-megabyte (MB) transfer rate but rather 1.25 megabytes per second (MBps)

/runs away to hide...
