Awakening a Leader

September 29th 2023, Outside of Columbus, Ohio

The launch was prepared. A single rocket carrying a single probe carrying a single man. The first Interstellar Flight using the Fusion Pulse Propulsion designed by Justin Schwin himself. The system was similar to the Orion Nuclear Pulse Propouslion System but instead of going at 10% the speed of light this cheaper, multi-use system propelled ships at 45% the S.o.L. It was known that the power generated from the fusion reaction would not only be used for propulsion but also to power the ship itself, recycling, and the statis chamber. The ship would also draw power from the sun to charge the back-up batteries within the ship prior to leaving the Solar System. It was correctly called a Multi-Use System.

One thing the public didn't know was that he wasn't going to come back. He was elected by the United States government to be sent to the one Habitable planet orbiting Alpha Centauri A. Found in 2015 by the Terrestrial Planet Finder. The had decided that his skill in government and space travel would make him a great asset to a galactic Human Empire that he would run when he was found and revived, becuase by that time he's leadership skills would be essential.

And today was the day. The American public watched in awe as the first interstellar ship lifted off using old chemical thrusters and once it had safely passed out of Earth's gravity, activated it's Fusion Pulse Propulsion system and began it's 10 year journey to Alpha Centauri.

In the thirty years since the launch of Interstellar 1 a massive era of imperialism had come among the Earth. Nations waged wars and claimed their lands, and the world drew towards a major global conflict.

As of the past year there had been no wars as the nations of China, America, the European Union, Russia, Australia, Brazil, Arabia, and Egypt had all expanded massively. Egypt now controlled the enitre African Continent and Madagascar, Brazil controlled South America, China controlled all of Southern Asia all the way to Iran. Arabia controlled the entire Middle East, Russia controlled all of northern Asia. The European Union completely unified Europe, America also controlled the entire North America continent. Australia now included all of the Indonesian islands.

Strangely Antartica was still untouched.

As predicted by many people across the globe a major conflict had broken out. Luckily the little Lunar Colony was spared.

Within a year many cities had been decimated by the armies and many others nuked into non-eistance. Only about 10,000,000 people remained in each nation.

A global peace had been reached as reconstruction started. It would be a century before the scars of this war had been healed.

March 27th 2151

The wrold has been mostly rebuilt, and nature has taken back almost 30% of it, well, the un-nuked parts anyway. Population was around 1 billion and there were only a few major cities in each nation. The world was looking up, and it would continue on this path all the way to Global Unification in 2197.

The Terran Alliance is completey established and Columbus declared the capital in memory of Justin Schwin whose probe had lost contact with Earth during the Omega War. Humanity had already began reaching into the stars through the limited means of Star Gates.

My next post is where the actual game will begin. Figured I give it a little back-story.

August 1st 2226, Alpha Centauri, Franziska Cave

A team of explorers was going through to the center of the electrical readings the cave was giving off. The 5 members of the exploration party were mainly of American desecent. John, Paul, Joshua, Gregory, and Helen. All of them in their late 20's.

"Doesn't this cavern ever end?" John asked, impatience lined his voice.

"Only a few more meters." Gregory said, the unianimously elected leader of the group.

"Better be."

The team kept walking and eventually came to a wall.

"What?! A dead end?! We hiked 2 miles for a dead end?!?!" John exclaimed in helpless frustration.

"That's why we brought the drills." Helen urged.

Wordlessly the team set up the drills which began eating through the comparatively soft rock. Within minutes the drill hit metal, and the team took anothr hour clearing it off. It was a door.

"Yes! This has to be it! We've done it! We'll be honored as heroes!" Paul said, clearly ecstatic.

"Don't get your hopes up, his stasis chamber could have been destroyed in the landing. Which clearly went wrong." Gergory said soberly.

They began placing charges on the door, walked off and watched the fireworks. The advanced explosives blew the door in and the team walked into 200 years of history.

"It's amazing.." Joshua said, probably the first thing he said during the whole hike. "A mile down and it's 100% operational." He walked over to the console. "Archaic. A Keyboard interface." He began working through the machine, finding each system was in the green, including stasis. Even the Fusion reactor was still going. But with only a few more months of fuel left. The computer had realy scaled down it's size. "Okay, I think I've got it. The stasis chamber is straight through that door and to the left."

The team took off in a hurried jog, and quickly got to the stasis chamber.

"Amazing..." Gregory said. "200 years old... And we are about to wake him."

They stood in a dark room with a single tube carrying a single man. They walked to the comoputer whioch had instuctions printed on them. After doing the neccasary preparations all that remained to be done was to activate the reanimation sequence.

"We're about to change the essence of the Terran Alliance..." Gergory said sotly, as he pushed the button and awakened a leader.

200 years, that was a long time. Justin though to himself. I may have died had the team not found me. But still, 200 years...

Justin after being awakened was quickly rushed out of the cavern while being briefed on the time. He was given a quick shot of history, which was often mumbled by the overly excited exploration team. Within an hour he was infront of reporters answering what seemed like millions of questions.

And now here he was, on Earth, about to go through a door to talk to Alan Bradely, the leader of the Terran Alliance. He wasn't expecting Alan to give him power so easily, so during the past week he had gotten some contacts. All in place. He entered.

"Ah, Justin Schwin. As you already know we've all heard, well read so much about you in our history books. But I'm not going to give you control over the Terran Alliance. I deon't care what you're ancient papers say about it, but I refuse. And unless you have an army, I doubt you will make me change my mind." Alan Bradely stated.

"*sigh* I didn't want to have to do this Mr. Bradely, but if you won't give me my power, I geuss I'll have to take it." Justin said, emphasising the word 'take'.

And as if on cue two men smashed in through the window behind Bradely, and before Bradely could turn around they had already shot off his arm.

Then his head.

September 8th 2226

It took a month to re-organize the Terran Alliance after the fall of Alan Bradely. But now Justin sati nhis chair with control over the mighty Terran Alliance. Even if his approval rating was at 72% while Bradley's was previously 80%.

It seems that Mr. Bradely had been working on ECM technology, it was said to be almost complete now. The man even managed to get himself a military resource and a reasearch resource. Both valuable. We were even pulling in over 30 Billion Credits(BC) per week.

It was time to do what he was destined to do. Lead huamnity to dominance of the stars.
