Goodbye Alberto Gonzales (and don't let the door hit you...)

According to the trumpet for the liberal media, the New York Times (at least according to them as I watch the local TV news this a.m.), Lightning Rod Conservative Posterboy U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has submitted his resignation and has had it accepted, or will have it accepted in the very near future.

No word on who his replacement will be, but I would again caution those that might think this is a celebratory moment to be careful what you wish for.  People that wanted Ashcroft gone were probably a bit surprised that they got someone that, in their likely opinion, took things from bad to worse.

It will be interesting to see who takes this job now.  With approx. 18 months remaining before a changing of the guard, anyone that does take the job is there for short term only.  If they come in guns ablazin' determined to leave their mark on the Justice department, then my point above about going from bad to worse could be very true here (at least for some people).

Not that I'm particularly thrilled that Gonzales is gone or that he would have stayed.  He has been more than enough of a lightning rod for controversy, much by his own making, and having him gone may mean that things will quiet down some in the media.  (Heh, as if, all of you readers and I all know that there's no way that anyone serving in this role at the behest of George W. Bush won't result in some controversy.  I'd put the over and under on how long after the announcement of who will get the job before there is a 'Bush made the wrong choice' article here from the Clueless Old Liberal or someone else on that side of the aisle at approximately 30 mins.)

If Bush nominated him, it would be bad to worse. The hypocrasy of the left is mind boggling at times.  At least they are finding excuses (not reasons, excuses) for their hatred.
