Iraq shows ultimate failure of liberalism

I expect that by the time people read the headline above the flames will start welling up inside quickly and the responses that tell me I'm a friggin' right wing nut job will start flyin', but if readers bear with me with a bit here, I think I can fairly easily prove the hypothesis made in that same headline.

Today's current news (with today being August 7, 2007) has an article found over at MSNBC (see: As British leave, Basra deteriorates) that notes Violence rises in Shiite city once called a success story via it's sub-head and of course in the body of the article.

That one article, compliments of the main stream media (how much more mainstream can you get over MSNBC?  Perhaps you'd demand that this came from CNN, but I'm fairly sure they'll have their own version of the same news anyway), demonstrates pretty clearly the trappings and failings of liberalism -- the results we are seeing in Iraq are clear examples of why liberalism always fails in the end.

Just as the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Soviet style of communism was inevitable and predictable, so to is the type of do-good liberalism that is evident in Iraq.

What the hell am I talking about? you ask.  Hasn't Iraq been a Republican adventure?  A fight started by conservatives who were told that the 'pottery barn' rules of 'you break it, you bought it' were in effect.  Yes, that is all true, but then so true is the fact that the security situtation in Iraq is a great example of what happens when principles of liberalism are applied.

The security situation in Iraq is failing as the outside influences that were keeping things secure are leaving the areas.  The people of Iraq, having never (in recent history) been responsible for their own security, were completely and utterly dependent upon some higher authority to maintain security for them.  They couldn't do the job themselves, so they had to be helped, protected, coddled, and overseen so that they wouldn't be harmed.  They've been the overprotected children of others, and before that the mistreated and abused children of Saddam and his regime, and have never really known what freedom is.

They have no sense of self worth any more, and probably won't have one for a long time as they fight amongst themselves and destroy each other in an effort to show that they want the U.S. and our allies out permanently.  Except that in reality the last thing they want is for the U.S. (and our allies) to leave because once we do there is no more order.  No more real justice.  No peace.  Just corruption, death, devestation and destruction.

The lemmings of Iraq were too dependent upon others to keep things going, and that is exactly what happens when liberalism is carried to it's conclusion.  Give the government all of the power, and all of the responsibility, for the care of its citizens and you make the citizens dependent upon the government for everything.  When that government fails to provide for you, you start seeking other means of providing for yourself, and garnishing the attention you crave.  You act out upon everyone else around you and destroy things because you feel ignore, abused, put upon, and destined for continued failure.

Sadly conservative principles were probably never taught to the people of Iraq, and they just don't know that they should be responsible for themselves and for others around them.  They may never learn that lesson given the current situation, and the expectation that eventually the U.S. will leave and will let the citizens of the country fight amongst themselves until there are just survivors.  I hope that isn't the case.  I hope that things can be improved in Iraq, but I really think some tough love needs to be practiced there.
