PM2004 - Can't change my campaign manager name

I recently installed Political Machine on my new computer for the first time. I am using Windows Vista now (previously XP) and although the game starts up, I've noticed a serious problem.

I can't change either my game name when creating a new quick play game or my name for the purpose of tracking a high school. Its stuck on 'Campaign 2004' and 'Pat Smith'. Whenever I try to type anything, the little error ding just sounds over and over.

What is the issue here?

Same thing has happen to me. Game runs and plays but can't change the name's. So anyone know how to fix this?

Did anybody figure out why and/or how to change names so I can create new candidate?
Using vista right now but was using ME. Same thing. Help please.

Me also. Is this a Vista compatibility problem? I've had this game since its release in 2004, and I have YET to find a computer that can run it properly. I'm looking forward to the new release in 2008, but I hope they fix all these bugs.

Considering this question has been posted for over a month now, maybe we could get an answer now? Hmmmm?

I too encountered this problem. I was able to fix it by going to the options menu and checking the box to disable the intro, then exiting the game and restarting.
