Creating/Allowing User Defined Icon

As I'm not that great at icons I was wondering if there is away to allow the user to use/select their own Icon?

Guess I mean more specifically from a gadget perspective as we can changed them by editing widgets.

How create a Shortcut on DX (advanced)

Look here and feel free to use it
more than allow users to change the shortcuts to their own (URL email files folders...) it change the icon of the object itself

but you'll need scripting and more in settings right the states names....

I've read your tutorial but, that's not what I mean.

What I mean is the actual application/gadget/widget icon that shows in the tray and in the folder and/or menu. Is that a little clearer?

Wouldn't this require finding the default icon's location and then replacing it? I have no idea where desktopX icons are stored. As I understand, sometimes icons are compiled in DLLs or EXEs so would that mean rewriting the file? I'm not even sure you can replace the icon for a program like you can with shortcuts.

You're right & with a gadget the icon is compiled into the exe even in temp folders. They only way is probably a registry hack? I've got an idea from an old app that I use called "IconX" not the same as Stardock's IconX.

It would be GREAT to be able to change the TRY Icon in a widget/gadget. It would make for things like weather/cpu speed, etc it would be awesome.

Imagine a CPU gadget that shows: 40% as the ICON in the tray?????
Ir the current TEMP or weather condition, or hell, the phase of the moon.

Stardock DX 4.0 Coders.. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add this feature for us!
