WinCustomize Site Issue: "Operation Aborted" Errors in IE7

WinCustomize Site Issue: "Operation Aborted" Errors in IE7

Good Afternoon

Over the past few days, we've been receiving reports of users encountering "Operation Aborted" errors at random on WinCustomize pages.  These errors were occuring in the forums, galleries, skin pages and more.  The way it went was the page would load for a user, then the Operation Aborted error message would come up, and after clearing the error, the page would clear.

We've been able to reproduce this issue internally and have identified the conflict.  It's an issue between IE7 and how some of our page scripts work.

We are currently working on building and testing the fix to eliminate the error.  If you find you're encountering the error with extreme frequency, please post a comment here with the exact version of Internet Explorer you're running (Help Menu -> About).

This error does not occur in Firefox.  If you are being blocked from regular use of the site by the error, please consider using Firefox temporarily until we get the fix in.

I will post when the fix has been implemented.

Thank you for your patience,

-Mike

I got approx 99% change of this error appearing while browsing main page of page. So far out of 40 days of browsing, it loaded without error once.

It doesn't appear for me anywhere else on this site and others.

I have now had eight goes at trying to look at these icons and I've tried to get at them from various directions but everytime I fail. They are shown in the new releases in the gallery but are not up for display in their respective Iconpackager gallery. Could this be something to do with it? Same with the Forum issues when posting. Could this be the reason why? Hopefully the boffins will sort it

Perhaps if I had looked in the right place - the dock icons library - it might have helped. Dohhhhhh!!! But this still does not make any difference to this issue

And to me again tonight. I have been had IE abort seven times tonight when viewing both skins and forums. I had to resort to going into the forums via Stardock Central to send this message

We're going to have dev take another look at the problem this week to try and figure out just how big of a problem it is.  We originally thought it was a small issue, but that obviously wasn't the case.

Leo:

Unless you've done something odd, using Stardock Central to post this shouldn't have had an actual impact since SDC uses your local version of IE to handle web browsing.

To everyone experiencing the issue:

Could you, when refreshing a page, make sure the cursor is not within the browsing pane of your web browser?  Does the error occur then too?

Zoomba , I tried that and it still happened .. HOWEVER , I Copy/Pasted the forum link , Opened a new tab in IE7 and I had access to the forum in all its glory !! This is weird for sure ... ..

I tried mikeb1954's method and it didn't work.

I also tried cursor outside IE while loading, it didn't work either.

I don't use stardock center built-in IE browser. I'm using IE itself.

Thanks, Zoomba. I thought the SDC thing was strange too but I was able to get access to the forums this way and not via IE. Weird. Anyway let's hope the guys in Dev can pin point the issue and if there is anything they wish us to try which helps identify the problem hopefully they will ask and between us we'll solve it

Wanted to let you know I have not had any problems over the last couple of days. Looks like you got it fixed. Thank you very much.

It's gone for me too. Thanks.

What was happening when it had those errors anyway?
