Hi,

The same thing happens for me. Are you on Vista 64 also?

I tried running in compatibility modes, but it just doesn't work :S

Thanks,

Rob

I just want to join your concern. I had to re-install my PC, including OD. Now, my Logonstudio Vista doesn't work. I even have less software than what I had before installed, and what I installed is what I previously had so there shouldn't be any conflicts with my other programs. Could it be Windows Firewall?

I don't know about logonstudio vista, but I think for the xp version netframework 1.1 was needed... maybe the same type of issue with vista version?

There appears to have been a recent update which is missing a command. I will try to get our installer team to fix this later today.

As a temporary workaround, open an administrative command prompt by typing "cmd" into the start menu search box and right-clicking on "CMD Shell", then clicking Run as administrator. Then, run this command:

regsvr32 wbocx.ocx

hi,
i agree with you i have had the same problem, when i first installed the program, it worked fine, and was really pleased, but when i restarted i found that the login screen had reverted to the vista original. When i tried to open the .exe the vista program has stopped working popped up. I also tried using the command given by greenreaper, and it still didn't work.

Please could someone help because this software is great, and the vista login screen is sooo boring and ugly.

As a temporary workaround, run this command:

regsvr32 wbocx.ocx

I get an error even running this command:

the module wbocx.ocx failed to load

Oh, ace.

A quick search for wbocx.ocx seems to suggest the library isn't on my machine.

Is there a patched version avaliable now?

Thanks,

Rob

What I think is happening is any spyware detector that you have running will remove the registry links for wbocx.ocx. AdWareAlert does it, and I am sure others do as well.

that may be the case, but i disabled all system scanning and program blocking in McAfee and tried re-installing but it still doesen't work. The program still won't start.

As a temporary workaround, run this command:

regsvr32 wbocx.ocx

when i run this command it says that dllregisterserver in wbocx.ocx succeeded but the program still won't run.

this is starting to get annoying because it's the only software that can change the login screen that i can find and it just won't work.

Add me to the list now, I just reinstalled my system from scratch and now can't use LoginStudio Vista, thried to workaround to no avail.

If you do not have wbocx.ocx on your machine, then that would explain why you are having the problem - and why we could not duplicate it here. Something has removed it or blocked its install. You could try reinstalling, and see if the file appears in the program or system32 folders - if it does not, then something is up.

If your logon screen has reverted to the original it suggests that you have something triggering a system file check scan. Windows will not normally run these, but it can be instructed to by software.

I tried to install Vista LogonStudio on my new Laptop running Vista Home Premium,
it broke off the install every time with the notice "Windows Vista is required...blah blah",
this happened evry time, including running as admin,
and that on a Vista machine.

I was about to give up, when by accident I moved the install file to my Desktop,
when I ran it from there, it installed and works no problem!
Go figure...

I hope this information will help somebody.

hi,

when i tried installing from the desktop, it still won't run. I tried disabling all of the macaffe stuff in security center, and tried installing, but again to no avail.

Finally, i did a quick search for wbocx.ocx, and the file is in my system 32 folder but the program won't work.

Microsoft had a server problem this past week and all verification for the vista software was down...my system converted to an unauthorized copy of vista and was dead in the water for most a day... when the server came up again and I verified my copy of vista most my Object Desktop programs would not run. Now that I have uninstalled and reinstalled the programs some do not run at all...One of my favs is the Logon Studio for vista and even though I uninstall and reinstall the program, it does not open. I get this error message: Description:
Stopped working

Well I have uninstalled my copy of Logon Studio for Vista and installed it again...this time through the CNET download not not through my Object Desktop program. I downloaded the Logon Studio for Vista program to my received files independent of Stardock (object desktop) and the program runs just fine. For some reason when the program is combined with the Object desktop program it will not run at all... any takers on this bit of info?

I think I have a solution for your problem. At least this was the reason why my Ad-aware stopped working.

Go to "Control Panel" -> "Performance Information and Tools" -> "Data Execution Prevention". Make sure that you don't have turned off DEP for some program or services. My Ad-aware and Spyware Blaster started to work once I removed the "COM Surrogate" service that I had blocked.

Hiya,

I've tried reinstalling, with the latest version, but there is still the same error:

wbocx.ocx

If you do not have wbocx.ocx on your machine, then that would explain why you are having the problem - and why we could not duplicate it here.

Could the developers please try installing logon studio on a fresh install of vista 64 without wbocx.ocx and see if their installer needs patching

And it would also be useful to provide a stand-alone downloadable version of wbocx.ocx somewhere, for users to try their own patches... it doesn't appear on any of the usual driver sites I use...

Thanks,

Rob

Not sure which latest version you're referring to, but current 64-bit versions should not have any kind of DirectSkin OCX installed in the first place, because the specific kind of OCX TweakVista uses is not yet supported on 64-bit. It is likely that some other problem is occurring. You should contact [email protected] for a debug build which may help track down the problem.
