Where was God during the Russian Pogroms? Where Was God when Hitler was doing his best to wipe we JEWS from the face of the earth? Where is God right now as Hezbollah and Hamas launch missiles into Israel, killing women and children?
Usually I say the same place as he was when he put his son on the cross but considering your heritage I'd have to say God was in the same place as he was during the Egyptian bondage watching over the Jews and during the Babylonian captivity also keeping his eye upon them. It wasn't an easy ride for them then either. The Hebrews went into bondage at the hand of the Egypitians 70 strong and came out with 603,000 men alone during the Exodus. They waited 400 years for a deliverer.
Also if you read of Haman (book of Esther) you'd see he was the first Hitler trying to wipe out all the Jews. In the end he was hanged and the Jews were saved. Esther, a Jew being on a Persian throne (unheard of) just at the right time was an act of God. The Jews wandered for 2,000 years without a country...if it wasn't for what Hitler did they still would be without a land to call their own. God will vindicate the atrocity of the Nazis.
Before Armageddon can happen, Israel HAS to be in Zion. God's ways are not our ways but he does have a plan that he's outlined and we're marching onward towards it. He said first that Israel would be like dry brittle bones (dead and buried) coming to life with flesh and breath before the end would come. He said they would come from all the nations which they have done since 1948.
The same way people here do, they blame it on Bush.

if God chooses to not intervene, Israel gets wiped out
