As expected, the people who have an obsessive hatred of Bush will put out their own opinions on what the latest NIE says, but as usual, their opinions don't equal facts.

So take a look at the NIE yourself and see what it really says.

Just as a partial excerpt:

We assess that the spread of radical—especially Salafi—Internet sites, increasingly
aggressive anti-US rhetoric and actions, and the growing number of radical, self-generating
cells in Western countries indicate that the radical and violent segment of the West’s Muslim
population is expanding, including in the United States. The arrest and prosecution by US
law enforcement of a small number of violent Islamic extremists inside the United States—
who are becoming more connected ideologically, virtually, and/or in a physical sense to the
global extremist movement—points to the possibility that others may become sufficiently
radicalized that they will view the use of violence here as legitimate. We assess that this
internal Muslim terrorist threat is not likely to be as severe as it is in Europe, however.

To have that as the result after almost 6 years of fighting this threat does not show that the approach Bush has taken was effective. Most of our effort is directed at the Civil War in Iraq not the REAL threat which is al-Qaeda. That is what the NIE documents!

Col, they are finding news ways to fight us. Not all countries around the world are putting as much effort to stop them. What we need to do since we are aware of the problem is to find new ways to stop their new ways. But the point is we know and we can watch them and maybe even follow them cause last I checked they have not been successful at launching any serious attacks. So you have nothing but a report that says

"We assess that this
internal Muslim terrorist threat is not likely to be as severe as it is in Europe, however.

No, that is your opinion which as usual is useless.  We are fighting al-qaeda on many fronts, but why do I bother telling this to a defeatist who worries more about what our enemies think of us than anything?

This NIE really is a joke, islamic terrorists are trying to kill us.......how many millions did this report cost to tell us that?

Since people still want to misrepresent what the NIE actually says, lets show a few more excerpts.

We assess that greatly increased worldwide counterterrorism efforts over the past five years
have constrained the ability of al-Qa’ida to attack the US Homeland again and have led
terrorist groups to perceive the Homeland as a harder target to strike than on 9/11. These
measures have helped disrupt known plots against the United States since 9/11.

We are concerned, however, that this level of international cooperation may wane as
9/11 becomes a more distant memory and perceptions of the threat diverge.

We assess Lebanese Hizballah, which has conducted anti-US attacks outside the United
States in the past, may be more likely to consider attacking the Homeland over the next three
years if it perceives the United States as posing a direct threat to the group or Iran.

So the report states that Hizballah is more likely to do something that Al-qaeda is. Well either this whole document is bogus (which would make Col wrong) that we are more concerned with Hizballah than Al-qaeda or it's right and we are making progress against terrorism (which would, also, make Col wrong). Nothing funnier than a person using a document to prove a point when the document clearly states the opposite of that persons intentions.

That's common with Bush haters and leftitst as they let their emotions and hatred dictate what they say.  This NIE barley mentions Iraq, but you wouldn't know that by some peoples posts.
