TRUST.. Either you do or you don't

I trust this will go to the forums.

That's why the question is, "Do you trust me?" and not "How much do you trust me?"

"How much do you trust me?"
"Oh, about 8."
"..."
"What?"
"Just 8?"
"Out of 9!"
"Well I trust you a zillion out of 9!"
"You're too trusting. You need to cut back."
"Why, have you done something wrong?"
"No, but I haven't done everything in my whole entire LIFE right."
"Did you cheat on me?"
"No! But I did tell you you didn't look fat in that dress."
And so on. Having a trust rating would only make things worse. Now it's easy!

"Do you trust me?"
"Yes."

End of conversation.

Of course, my wife can trust me to say she looks great no matter what she's wearing. Because she asks, "How do I look?" Not, "How do I look in these clothes?" So I say, "You look great honey!" because I know what she looks like without them!

I don't know. I think there can be degrees of trust. Trust with reservations. I guess you have a point. It's just another way of saying you don't trust someone without being totally blunt about it.

I agree, either you trust someone or you don't. If you have reservations then you don't in fact trust them.

The move is complete but the putting stuff away and organizing is hard damn work.

I'd like to say that I can trust a person with certain things and not when it comes to other things. But come to think of it, I have to say, if a person is proven unworthy of trust, it is just difficult to trust them in other areas.

As for trust (which I am defining as "confident expectation"), I think you can trust for different things. For example, I trust that my neighbors will keep an eye on my place and let me know if there is something wrong or something that I should be aware of, but I wouldn't trust them with the keys to my condo. Whereas my best friend, I would definitely trust with the keys, but I don't trust her to show up anywhere on time.

Ah HA! finally a nay sayer. You are using trust in its most vague sense, 'I trust the mailman to deliver my mail' " I trust the grocery store to have food'' I am using the word in its finite sense as In I trust this person or not. person, not place or thing or situations.

"I trust him as far as I can throw him"...haha, that kind of implies degrees of trust (how far can you throw him?), but I guess really the meaning is: I don't trust him.

I don't know if trust is absolute.

I agree with Shades that it could be very situational. Are you asking do you trust someone in every single circumstance possible? Because if that's the question, there is NO ONE I trust, LOL.

My favorite line was, "I trust him as far as I can smell him." "That would imply a considerable amount of trust, sir!"

Just to make things perfectly clear, I do mean as tex said "trust in any and all situations" is trust then 100% or not?

 

I trust Colleen completely, without reservations, Same with Michele, who use to blog here as gimpyone before her eyesight went so bad she can no longer see the screen. To get spiritual I trust GOD without reservation also.
