I give credit for this headline... on McCain

Headline at MSN.com today:

McCain's tragic presidential sitcom

Whoever came up with that headline hit the nail right on the head, as McCain's campaign this time around (not that previous tries were much better...) seems to be right in line to be called a comedic tragedy, well worth using as the script for a sitcom.

I asked in an earlier thread for people to list who they don't want as President and though I recall McCain's name in the list for some people that answered, it wasn't that prominent.  It seems that McCain is a decent enough guy (though there were some questionable events in his past political history also...) but he just can't seem to mount a worthy campaign, or a campaign that can get over the hump, no matter how hard he tries.  There's always someone there to knock him down, or worse yet, there are his own stumbles and bad political decisions (such as supporting McCain-Feingold campaign reform, or such as his support of the recent Immigration reform attempt).

I joke above that it could be a sitcom, but the sad fact is that such a sitcom would probably wind up like McCain's campaign, cancelled because of a lack of viewers and supporters, as I sense that is what is about to happen to the McCain 2008 campaign.

McCain listened to the MSM pundits after 2000, and thought they loved him. NOw that Darth Bush is not running, they have no reason to portray him as the victim (they love victims), and he is finding out how much the MSM really cares - basically nothing.

McCain needed to heed one piece of old advise, "if you try to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one."  He thought being popular meant being electable.

John McCain is a good and Honorable man, he is not 2008 president material. Sadly his age is showing, his once super charged spirit is gone and he is tied to Bush in to many ways.
