Flag Rally in the works

For Weirton, WV

http://www.americanpatriotcouncil.com/
Hey, folks....

I'm planning a flag rally for my area; the target date is Saturday, September 1st, from 10am-1pm. If anyone in this general area might like to attend, the site will be the corner of Colliers Way and Pennsylvania Avenue, in Weirton, WV, in front of the Rite Aid drug store. That's a very, very busy intersection, right off Interstate 22, and perfect for this type of thing.
Anyone who doesn't know what a flag rally is....it's kind of a "Honk if you love America" thing. It's simply a gathering of patriotic people who support the troops, their country, and value American ideals and interests; they bring flags, of course; American flags, state and military flags, POW flags, etc. They dress in appropriately patriotic attire, and display inspirational and patriotic signs and banners. It's just to have fun, and make a statement, standing for your beliefs.

I'm working on forming a chapter of the American Patriot Council around here---well, technically, it's already formed, but I'm the only member, right now---and I'd really like to make a statement, right out of the gate; a loud bang. That loud bang will take people to attend.
The APC was formed about a year ago as a conservative, rightist response to groups like Code Pink, ANSWER and MOVEON.org. To look it up online, see the link.
So, if you, or someone you know, is in this general area, and would perhaps like to attend, let me know. I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I'm not anywhere near you, but this sounds like a neat event.

Curious if pro-troops, anti-Iraq war patriots would be welcome?

Come out to the rally, it's going to be great!

But what's it about?

It's a RALLY.

Though I get your question, and a legit one it is, maybe there is no need to point out being anti-Iraq war. This is to rally about the love for this country and for those who fight, have fought and have died for it. Not so much about whether you like whats going on in Iraq or not. At least that what I think he meant or what it should be anyways. Otherwise this turns into something political as oppose to just a reminder of who we are.

Charles, as I have said MAAAAANY times before: STFU.

And as you may have noticed I need not to do as you say cause you ain't my mamma (thank God), my boss (thank God) or anyone on this site with the power to shut me up (thank God). But here's a thought you do have the power to take your own advice so I say please do so yourself. This is what I get for being nice when replying to someone as childish as you. You should change to your name to Texas Whiner cause man you are such a cry baby.

Did you really just lecture TW on how to support the troops? Wow -- I mean, I knew you weren't too bright, but I never expected you were THAT dumb!
... no, he didn't lecture anybody... he was just explaining what he thought the rally was about, which was supporting America and the troops, regardless of one's stance on Iraq. That's how I read it anyway.

Of course, that doesn't seem to be what the rally is about... it feels more like a patriotic, I support America rally, not an I support the troops rally. At least, that's what I got from the OP, but he should come back and clarify what this is all about.

Shades: LOL. He does this to me all the time.

Jythier: No worries. RW feels me. He knows what I mean.

WTF are you talking about? I have not lectured anyone. She asked a question, I answer (in a nice way I might add) what I thought the article was about. She told me to STFU for no reason. I did not deserve that. If she is a military wife and does not like talking about military stuff than she should keep her posting to herself. I said nothing bad to her so I did not deserve that response.

And why the F_ck are you sticking your nose in this argument anyways? Talk about not being too bright, you're so dim you don't even realize this has nothing to do with you. You too need to change your name from Shadesofgrey to Leftofgrey.

Shades: LOL. He does this to me all the time.

I'm sorry, what did I do to you again? If you have issues when it comes to your man in Iraq then perhaps you should steer clear of anything that relates to military talk. You've done nothing by complain about anything that sounds insulting to you, you're starting to sound like Muslims when they get mad over stupid little things. Grow up already. Gosh.

Thank you, my point exactly. Gosh, nice to see someone who gets it.

Well he did say "It's simply a gathering of patriotic people who support the troops,". But yes, it's more of a "being proud to be American" kinda thing.

You know, it's funny. I don't understand this problem you have with me. Because it's obvious you got something against me since you claim I do this to you all the time which I'm still not sure what is it that I do to you.

I have a great appreciation and respect for all the members of the US Armed Forces, those who have served, those who are still serving and those who have lost their lives. Because of them I get to enjoy the greatness of this country, because of them I am proud of being American (regardless or Bush's constant tripping over his own feet dance). If I could I would shake the hand of every single one of them. I think they deserve so much more than what they get, and even then it would probably not be enough, but I believe they did not join just for the benefits, at least not all of them.

My brother was in the National Guard, he was honorably discharged. He never really went to any battles but I am still proud of him for it. He has a brother who is a Navy Seal and is currently in Iraq. While he is not my brother I still consider him one. We worry all the time since we never know where he is, what he is doing or even if he is still alive. But these are the things we are use to, it's what he wanted and we can only hope for the best.

I don't understand this dislike you have for me. I could be wrong but this all started because I used the phrase "our boys" and you found it offensive. I don't know why this has lead to you being this way with me, even LW has had her downs with me yet she does not treat me this way unless she thinks I deserve it. If every time I reply to anything you say will result in you going ballistic on me I will make it my business to steer clear of you so long as you steer clear of me. I don't like being at odds with someone when I don't see why we should be.

Sorry, reading comprehension problem that so often rears it's ugly head. Charles had the right idea of the rally.

Maybe you can explain to me why I deserved this:

Charles, as I have said MAAAAANY times before: STFU.

Because it seems to be that both TW and Shades somehow felt I did.

DJ/Charles/whatever your name is--

I really can't, for a moment, believe that you have no idea what it is that you do that drives TW crazy. But if you really are that clueless, may I gently suggest that your posts may, possibly come off as condenscending and chauvinistic?

Just a thought you might wish to consider -- but what do I know, being so "dim" and all.

Oh yea, and if you are going to insult me -- at least have it make sense.

Really? That's funny, I always thought I came off as annoying and somewhat stating the obvious. I don't know what cave you've been living in but many times I have pointed out that I am not always very knowledgeable about certain topics but I give my opinion based on what I know. I don't consider myself a genius at all, I post what I believe and if I am proven wrong I admit it. Arrogant? You must be confusing me with Bush, I may be persistent and consistent when I stick to my guns but that hardly screams "condenscending and chauvinistic". We have barely crossed words in all the years I've been on this site, I barely know much about you and I have to believe you barely know much about me. Hell, this argument wasn't even with you yet you chose to jump in and gang up on me. I know I can get annoying at time, but I never figured I would get disliked by those whom I have barely crossed words with.

Call me what you want, it doesn't bother me anyways.

It's not my fault you're so dim you can't even see it. Does that make more sense to you?

RW, good luck with your rally. If I am in the neighborhood, I will stop by.

And these comments sure are fun to read!

You do bring out the best(?!?) in some folks.

RW is an infrequenter. He will pop back in soon and answer some of the posts.

As a general rule, it WOULD support the war, yes.....but anti-war, pro-military, patriotic souls are perfectly welcome. It's about patriotism and standing for American interests; you know....showing your Fascist, jingoistic, hubris-dripping imperialist nationalism. I'm not a liberal; it's all right to disagree with my position; I won't cuss at you and throw things.
I may not agree with the anti-war stance (okay, I personally see it as naive, shortsighted and misguided, but anyway....), but you're American, and it's your right to feel that (naive, shortsighted and misguided....heh, heh, heh....) way.

of course, that doesn't seem to be what the rally is about... it feels more like a patriotic, I support America rally, not an I support the troops rally. At least, that's what I got from the OP, but he should come back and clarify what this is all about.

That's exactly right.....give that man (woman?) a teddy bear! "Honk if you love America"....Support the Troops....etc. It's all in fun; have a good time and wave the flag. Leave the heavy, humorless stuff to Code Pink.

RW, good luck with your rally. If I am in the neighborhood, I will stop by.

And these comments sure are fun to read!
---DrGuy

Thanks....I hope I won't be the only loser to show. I'm going public with it in August...hope I get some takers. I really want to get this group chapter off the ground, too; this is a "membership drive" event, as well, if anyone feels the desire to join up. I do want it to be fun, though.

And so I have....thanks for leaping to my defense, DG.....the way I work, it's hard to get on here as often as I'd like.

He might do better to delete all the comments or start a new thread at this point.
--Jythier

But that would ruin the rhythm you all got going, here!
I've enjoyed reading all the comments.....especially by Charles, who did get the right idea, and I didn't think he was "lecturing", either. Thanks to all for posting.

And I'm glad Tex isn't mad at me anymore

At least you're honest...it's a pro-war rally.

And I enjoyed Charles' comments too. Haha. All five million of 'em.
