Icon Organizing anyone?

Icon Organizing anyone?

sneak preview from the lab...

Sneak preview of a potential new technology for the desktop that's brewing - Icon Organizing. Create areas on the desktop that apply a customizable graphic effect to the background, resize/move the areas and have the icons go with them, icons can auto-arrange independently within the areas... can choose a specific area for new icons to go to automatically, fold up areas, show a 'details' explorer view of a subfolder as a desktop area...etc etc.

What do you think!

Add a hotkey or hotspot to hide a specific or all groups and you're set. Of course, at that point it's almost a . . . dockMy thoughts also, I guess if you don't like ObjectDock this would be good for you. If you don't like OD though, where are you located...I'll send a couple gorillas over there...

There are people who don't like Object Dock?  Lucky they're still alive.

So not ready to do any announcing/previewing today, however, i DID notice that today happens to be the one-year anniversary of this thread

So in honor, I'll at least leak a tiny touch of details on our new product, "Desktop Fences" :) Available as a private-invite beta in the next month or so, Fences will work on XP and Vista (compatible with both x86 and x64 on Vista). Hoping to get the website up and running in the next few weeks in order to commence the mouth-watering ;) Oh and, since I happen to know the developer of ObjectDock personally....ObjectDock Plus is going to get an update as well, to snap in with Fences. :)

cya!

Ah, so you 2 bin collaborating behind our backs again!

Seriously, tho... this Desktop Fences project sounds great - the fact that it'll "snap in" with OD is fantastic - can't wait. :)

Not really sure what "snap in" means but it sure sounds cool.

Can't wait to see the finished product, I'm glad it will be compatible with XP too.  :CONGRAT:

hehe nice zubaz. fwiw v1.0 won't include any kind of skinning, it's aim was designed around simplcity & usability with simple/clean good looks ; you can tint the areas a uniform different color & change their uniform opacity, but no per-group settings and no skinning/changing it from "shaded areas" to something more fancy/graphical. look for that in the 2.0 :)

wrapped up on other projects right now, you may have heard some press about that whole Dell Dock thingamabobber and that Impulse whatsitcalled... but have plans to start making finishing-progress again in a reasonably short order :)
