For the Glory of Evil!

My report to my Master, the Dark Emperor!

This is my 2nd attempt for an AAR (even though it's going to be written as I progress in the game...unless it should bore me again, which it doesn't look like after the 1st year)
It's in a medium Galaxy, Common planets (I was somewhat unlucky with positioning and the star systems in my surrounding, but regardless I feel like the difference to "abundant" is quite big...), fast research against 4 real AIs (Drengin, Korath, Arceans + my old custom-favourite, the Amatons. Which are superbreeders and set to "good" alignment)+8 Minors. Difficulty at Suicidal, first time for me. I didn't have very high hopes after being never in danger in my last 2 Obscene-games...but I'm kinda shocked after the 1st year I admit...)

The arrival.

My Dearrrrrr Master of Chaosssss and Evil,
Brotherrrrssss and Sissssterrrrsssss,

The mighty Thalanssss have arrived in thisssss wonderful new galaxzzzzy in order to sssssspread the Law of Chaossssss, to implement a wonderful reign of terrrrrrrorzzzzzz!

(ooc: I'm gonna save me and you all those "s" now )

You have given me the task to conquer this galaxy, ordinary medium size, which is supposed to be bloody damn tough going .
It's further said to be inhabited by our brothers in evilness, the Drengin and the Korath, furthermore some stupidly large Arceans and some races called the "Amatons", who are damn hippies, making love and babies all day and spreading like a plague.

Now, in theory this galaxy should have been secured for the evergrowing forces of the dark. But apparently our brothers, the Drengin and Korath, have failed and didn't show the weaklings their boundaries yet. So we, the most evil Thalans, have to continue where they failed.

We arrived at a very corner of this galaxy and took posession of a decent planet right away.
Being a Hive we did what we can do best: we built factories - lots of 'em.

And right away we wanted to put our proven strategy from many galaxies we conquered in the past to work here also…but things were different. We hardly found planets that could be inhabited by us. We found one mediocre planet which we colonized right away and finally another …a tiny class 6 …but we found a precursor mine there, now - that will help us some.
We continued looking for more planets we could colonize, but weren't lucky. Either they were uninhabitable for us and/or the dreaded Korath were there already. Not that we hated eachother yet, after all we were brothers in evilness - yet, they took what was rightfully ours

At last, at last the God of Chaos in his glory evilness gave us, his faithful followers - a present…we found a class 26 planet which wasn't habited yet. It was quite a way out of our normal reach, but in a hurry we designed a long-range-colony-ship and hoped nobody would take this jewel from us. Would be a shame really to waste such a jewel for some minor races, which have nothing more in mind than to enjoy its beauty, form families, grow children and other hippie-dippie-nonsense. No, this planet was meant to be a Temple of Torture, a monument of eternal pain, a beacon of chaos.
Upon arrival of our colony ship our Master presented us another gift, he made the planet even more perfect for us, giving it a classification of 34.

Unfortunately, despite building a huge fleet of survey ships, we havent been able to find a single other planet we could still colonize. Damnit! This wasn't our plan. Not at all.
We are used to have many planets at our disposal and to use the enormous industrial output to flood our victims with our warships. Now, we may have to struggle here a bit.

When analyzing our somewhat awkward situation we decided that we had to already start taking planets by force.
We had discovered most of the galaxy by now and the situation looked like this:
The Drengin had somehow managed to grab a great potion of the galaxy and had an enormous techological advantage over everyone already and it was growing fast.
The Korath were about second and had even more planets than the drengin - but a smaller area of control.
Military was evenly lead between Drengin, Korath and me - but we have to admit that the galactic statistician somewhat overestimated our own military might. We had the numbers, but especially the Drengin ships were a real shock when our scout ships scanned them. Each of their ships had about 10 times the attack power of ours already. Now, if they ever discovered our great bluff we would be in some trouble. No doubt there. The Korath were somewhat inbetween. The Arceans and the Amatons were - not very suprisingly for stupid non-evil-races - in clearly loosing positions already. They neither had many planets (even though morethan us….yikes), nor a great area of influence. Their technologies sucked and military they were atm no match for any of "us".

Right, we had to do something about it. Our most natural prey at this point would certainly have been the stupid Amatons or Acreans. Unfortunately they were both out of our reach…And the Korath and Drengin between 'em and us. So they wouldn't get killed by us, but eaten alive by those uncivilized beasts the Drengin and Korath are. Tough luck.

Attacking the Korath, who were for 90% of our borders our "friendly" neighbours, was atm also no real option. They too had an weapon-technology-edge and even when not as extreme as the drengin do - we weren't sure it would be wise to attack them - yet. Sooner or later we would have to, no doubt, but not yet.

So we picked upon the weak. Their own fault it was - being weak. Most nearby were the Snathi. Others may call them "cute" - but we always had to vomit when we saw them. Ugly, peaceful, unworthy beings they are.
Now…being evil we wanted to abuse them as much as possible. I took heavy drugs, all kind of them, in order to survive the talk that was necessary now. I pretended to make friends with them and sold them the technology of "Trade" - hoping they would have built a economic capital for us to use when we took their planet by force. Because there seems to be some stupid nonsense basic law that didn't allow you to build more than 1 of those. Stupid galaxy I say. Stupid.

Right…. while the Snathi hopefully busied themselves with building that economy-booster we built an invasion force and a few weeks later it was ready and another few weeks later it was standing around the Snathi's planet. I drugged myself again (our scientists had to develop some new drugs especially for this one last talk, because I was sure the old ones wouldn't help me anymore bearing the sight of those ugly fluffy beasts). I told them some bullshit about wanting to trade and being nice and my ships just being passing by and more such crap and finally they gave me some techs I could use and also bought some technolgies from me. They probably still patted themselves on their backs and partying and stuff about having nobbled me when my brave (also heavily drugged) soldiers made the whole planet into a single huge BBQ.
When examining the remainders of this unworthy race we found out that they were indeed as stupid as we thought they would be and had nicely built that much-needed Economy building (ooc: well they had it in the build-queu, which was of course enough )

In the light of that glory achievement we sold the Trade-technology to all the minor races which still had use for it. Let them do something to increase their value for us. After all they are only there to be grateful victims for us for later exploitation…

The first year in this galaxy ended with some stupid law which wanted to spread some happiness through the galaxy..of course we together with the Drengin and Korath successfully repelled that. Happiness. Horsecrap. (ooc: actually I voted for it, but nobody needs to know But drengin and Korath had together too much influence...)

On New-Years-Eve we made our wishes for the comming year: of course it included the usual: causing havoc and clean the galaxy from unworthy life. We already had set eye upon the worlds of the Carrinoids and the Lentzlandrians, which aren't as unbearable as the Snathi - but not by much.
Of course we still needed some kind of idea how to deal with the somewhat scary-looking Drengin.

Happy New Year!
We like to make ourselves presents so we started the new year as we ended the previous one: We made ourselves a nice little gift in form of the Lentzlandrian (if we needed a reason to kill them - their name would have been more than enough...) homeworld. And yet again they were as kind as to having start building an Economy Capital for us.

Some nice shiny day, which was sweetened by the cries of the last exemplars of the Lentzsssss in our torture chambers, we talked to the Drengin inquiring about befriending them (we didn't want to end on their dining table (or whatever they use) if they developed some stupid idea before we were ready for it). Much to our surprise they were more than willing to agree upon a mututal-research-development and even gave us some interesting technology with it. Did they went gaga? I mean, we were more than ready to pay THEM for it considering their huge technology output we wanted a share of. But well if it was their wish to pay us - so be it. But they weren't as willing to agree upon anything further just yet. We should prove outselves worthy first. Bollocks! Do they want us to start eating them or what? Anyway…there was no way to get into anything more substancial and so we agreed upon developing some trade between our planets. Soon after the first trade goods were exchanged (for a while we wondered about where they got all the meat from their tradeships were mainly filled with, but in the end decided that we maybe better don't want to know…).
Right, we were somewhat friendly with them. But they were about the only one in this galaxy who seemed to like us. Fools they were, the Drengin.

We used the extended freedom we enjoyed in their empire to spy upon them and finally found the reason for their incredible technological lead: They had a goddamn precursor-reasearch-artifact on their homeworld and several other lesser artifacts on other worlds. Sure…that's like crossbreeding Attila the Hun with Albert Einstein and then growing the child up on some cannibal-island. Screw that. Off went our spies to sabotage those areas. We should have checked 'em out by other means much earlier, goddamnit again!. Should have been obvious that there had to be something behind that unexplainable technology output of those supposedly somewhat lidded creatures.

Now, now…it didn't look as if we would be allowed to take this galaxy in a coup de main as we usually do - but the party would go on. The Carrinoids shall be the next, afterwards we will see. Maybe one of the hippie-empires of Arceans and Amatons will do us the favour to declare war on us for being meanies. Then we just need to overcome that minor obstacle of being at the other end of the galaxy in order to have some fun.

But for now…I will have some holidays. Our wonderful planet Carrinoids V (yeah the same system our next victim resides in….purely by chance though that I picked that for holidays…I swear!) just opened a brand-new Slave-Center and held a great festivity for the complete extinction of all native lifeforms on it. A must see if you ask me. I certainly will have the best fun there I had since BBQ'ing 5 billion Snathi-blackguards! and I think I earned it too. Every 10 billion do-gooders killed you ought to have some relaxtion, don't you? And having to talk to those fluffy-tuffy-toffy-cretins was almost more than one of my sort can bear.

Stay tuned Master, I will report in with news as soon as our advancement continued!

Gee i think i know that guy, isn't his name George....something something...

Nice work (adds to watchlist), looking forward to the next installment.

One thing you should try is bribe a war between your friends, the Dregin, and the Korath, or one of those two against the hippie wusses. I'm sure you'll find an evil and equilly devastating outcome, though. I look foward to hear how it ends. Hopefully with your enemies bowing down before you before you decapitate them and steal their riches, including their souls!

The very instant you show your weakness, your downfall will begin!

Ya, I've tried that but both of them don't want to. Meaning the Option to attack the other race doesn't even show up when I talk to one of them and try to get them to attack eachother.
I haven't looked into the rules for that and just accepted it as it is, but they only got Trade relations, but apparently thats already enough not to war eachother, what I find a little odd.

Getting them to attack one of the Hippie-races would be easy, but that wouldn't do me any good. That would just mean they get even more planets (and techs maybe) quickly, which would make the situation even worse. I hope they refrain from attacking another race until I have the abilities to get a slice of the galaxy at the other end of it too.

The Party continues...somewhat.

My holidays were very pleasant. My subordinates didn't promise me too much when they spoke about the wonderful devastation they brought over that fantastic class-34-planet. Also the Artificial slave center was worth a trip for sure. So many humilated creatures in there. Superb I tell you, superb! Holidays got boring after a while though so I used the opportunity of being around and ordered my troops in the vicinity of the Carinoids-homeworld.

I won't bore you with lengthy reports of those utterly useless, mindless, idiotic, bastards the Carinoids were. I still have to spit out whenever I think about those cretins. We took their world, no problem. But those useless pieces of sh** didn't build the Economic capital as we expected them to do. How dare they?
Anyway, we took their world. And usually we show mercy, we kill fast and painless. Now, we were in fury about there disobedience, so they weren't as lucky.
Furthermore it seemed as if they were able to take advantage from our last-minute-trades with them and were a quite formadible opponent compared to the Lentzsssss and the fluffy-thingies.

A quarter of the year had passed meanwhile and our scientists finally had discovered some secret weapon, a wonderful toy for an orderly evil civilisation: the Psyonic beam. Now we just needed a proper carrier for it and pushed research towards larger ship types, since our 2-missile-attack-cruisers won't cut it much longer. (recently we spotted some drengin cruiser, packed with Antimatter-Torpedoes with a total attack of around 30. scary I tell you, scary!)

Situation on a broad scale was looking worse and worse though. Our sabotaging against the Drengin showed some results at last. Instead of pumping out 4-5 times the research we did, they only did about double now anymore. But apparently they got aware of somebody sabotaging them and managed to neutralize our spies in their precursor-boosted-lab every couple of weeks. The operation was getting more and more expensive, but we just couldn't afford to let them make use of those labs, we just couldn't. Fortunately our other 2 main spies in their territory, also sabotaging hyper-research-labs (ooc: 2x300%-bonus ones) weren't found yet.

So we would say that this operation is -despite the everraising costs- a success and should be able to keep the Drengin somewhat in bay, even though they got a quite big technological edge already and it was still growing til then.

On the military side things were looking much less good for us. During the first year we were equal to the Korath and Drengin in military rating, sometimes even above them. But during the last few months both of them made enormous efforts and must be pumping out massive fleets. We were absolutely unable to keep up with it. Meanwhile we felt as if push came to shove we would have to throw with wadding against tanks in a war against Korath or even worse the Drengin.
Our relation esp. with the Drengin were still fine, but someday we would have to fight them.

During some smalltalk-meeting with our "friends", the Drengin, our diplomats gathered that they we really keen on having a passage at arms. Using our friendship we persuaded them that the Korath were the only worthy opponent for them. Having to give them technology for that made our hearts bleed, but we really hoped it would be worth it in the end. (ooc: not sure, why they now suddenly gave the option of attacking the Korath. Either I was blind a few months before or I just don't know…)

Meanwhile we had to continue to grow and saw 2 options, both with pros and cons:
#option 1) make a long-range-attack on the minor races of the Jessuin and the Scotlingas, both of which had an economic capital by now. This would ease our treasury issues somewhat in the medium term, but then they didn't pose a major threat for us and the distance to them was quite great. Also we weren't sure how the Korath would react to extended military operations within their area of control despite their war with the Drengin.
#option 2) we were now close to the Arceans, which were the weakest of the "real" civilisations. Having explorered the galaxy in their area completly now we knew they only had 3 planets (the area we thought they own was found to be populated by drengin and Korath...curse them!), their military was weak, but their worlds were mainly focused on production and our spies couldn't find an economic capital.
Anyway, the decision was made to take 'em out before they would become a threat as well.

So we gathered forces around their nearest planet and send another part of our military towards their 2nd world. We planned upon taking those 2 worlds out simultanously…but for the first time our plans dind't work out.
1 week before our forces would have been ready at their 2nd planet…they finished a frigate at each of the 2 planets we wanted to attack. It had an attack rating of 19 and some defense against Missiles. Goddamnit.
We had no chance to win against the 2nd planet, where our forces would have been just enough to take our the standard defenders they had there before.
But we took the risk of still winning the 1st planet with our cruisers and missileboats. We lost 15 ships against the frigate alone, but finally we had their defenses down. But let's face it…the time of those ships was more than over anyway. Luckily…we soon would be able to build frigates ourselve...
Using an invasion supported by Mass drivers we also won the whole planet and we drew back our forces from the other planet, since thy would have been chanceless.
The Arceans launched their other Frigate as well as several cruisers and charged our fleeing fleets, but their weakness showed now: The frigate only moved at a speed of 2, while our ships had speeds of 3 to 4.

We now designed our own frigate: 4x Psyonic Beams + an Impulse drive and huried to build some of them in our empire. 1 we built on the newly conquered planet which was incidently also the Manufacturing Capital of the Arceans, filled with Manufacturing Centers - where our own planets still only used Factories.

We intercepted the Arcean fleet a few weeks later with our first frigate + the remainders of our cruiser- and missileboat-armadas and both their and our frigate exploded in a wonderful colourful fireball.

Now, later another frigate arrived from our core-planets and another one was built on the ex-Arcean world. And those conquered the 2nd Arcean planet for us.
But meanwhile their homeworld had 3 Frigates in orbit + 15bn population which we couldn't overcome atm anyway. So we agreed upon a peace and apparently the Arceans overestimated us and gave us an advances version of PD-Combo in order to convince us to make peace. Fools they were.

Meanwhile the war between the Korath and Drengin went on, even though not as devastating as we hoped. They shoot down some freighters and maybe there also were some minor fleet-action, but none of them seemed to be too engaged really. But both the Drengin and Korath research was cut back massively due to the war, so we were -for the first time- equalling them in research output. That's something at least. Even though they really should take this war a bit more serious. Cowards!

Right, half a year is over again and no matter how useful those minor races may be at times we think we will have to go against them next in order to create the economic basis to be able to stand up to the Drengin and Korath some day.

Our plans for the near future: of course the obvious: causing havoc and making sure there's a steady supply for our Slave Center. And we somehow need to do something about our economy. Treasury is almost used up and we are still running in the negatives. Curse those bloody Carinoids again! I hope they rot in and endure everlasting pain in Heaven!

A time for diplomacy.
(or: Did they all go nuts?)

Right on, we were looking for a fight. We couldn't take on the Arcean Homeworld just yet, but reinforcements were (slowly) on their way.
So for now we travelled a bit further and showed the evil-pretenders, the Dark Yor, what real evil is like.
Afterwards we travelled back and finally liberated the Arceans from their misery.

About at this time the Korath and the Drengin made peace! Excuse me? That wasn't our idea of what is the best for them…and us. Off went our diplomats. First to the Drengin who seemed somewhat tired of the war and wanted to have quite a massive compensation for re-entering it. They really disappointed us.
Luckily the Korath seemed a bit more desperate for a little tech-infusion and so the war re-emerged. No boredom for your kinds, no no!

Next on our own table were 2 more minor races: the Scottlingas and the Jessuin. Unfortunately our troops had to cross the whole galaxy diagonally for that - which was going to take some time. In the end we conquered them without any problems, but the months they needed to travel there were really remarkable.

First came the completion of an outstanding achievement: The Eyes of the Universe. I admit, afterwards there were times when I wished we hadn't built this - There's nothing like seeing 100 Drengin ships gathering in 1 spot - and that only being one of their weaker fleets. Plus first taking a glimpse on their brandnew Frigate-type-ships, which made our own frigates look somewhat inadequate.
Finally both the Korath and the Drengin seemed to take the war a bit more serious, the Drengin being probably a bit more pissed at the Korath and the Korath also being clearly at the receiving end. The actual damage still was probably neglectable for both races, esp. Since so far no planets changed ownership, but still it kept them busy.

Some fine cruelsome day we met the Drengin for Dinner and it was going to be a day the historybooks of the Thalans will forever remember.
Basically we had nothing particular on the agenda, but over the meal one of us asked the Drengins "hey, how about a nice Economic treaty, wouldn't that be cool?" Much to our surprise a Drengin said "sure thing buddies". While I was still stunned, never expecting this, the Drengin went on "…and to make the deal more acceptable for you, we want to give you Quantum Torpedo 3 with it!". I was like "wtf?!?!?!" and started "Are you guys n…." when one of our diplomats kicked me hard to interrupt me and continued "…that noble? Well thank you very much!". The drengin then continued "Yes, we like you …and to make the deal even easier to accept by you we wish to also transfer 100 bc to your account". Now even my diplomats were speachless and we hastily agreed to the terms. Right before the Drengin went to sign them too, they hesitated and spoke "There is just one more thing…". 'Ok' I thought, it was too nice to be true anyway. "….we always wanted to taste one of your kind, so if you could leave one of yours here ….to our…ermmm... discretion …?". I thought about it for a moment, then Ismiled and then said "Of course, my dear friends…how about…." I looked around in the room and finally rested my eyes on that diplomate who kicked me earlier (I would have him assassinated at home anyway for that) "…this one here?!" The eyes of the guy looked in horror as my bodyguards led him to the Drengin. The drengin looked happily and signed the treaty now without further interruption.
So on a night, from which I expected nothing special, we won an economic treaty that was going to be worth around 700 bc per week (considering our tax income was 2000 bc/week that was quite nice) and we saved half a year (or more) research-time and jumped from our technology Stinger II right up to Quantum Torpedo 3.
Thank you, Drengins, you truly must be gaga!

Next we talked to the Amatons. Speaking of them…we have no clue why the Drengin or Korath didn't take them out already. We certainly would have done so, but we can't reach them really so far. (But this should change somewhat when we had conquered those 2 minor races, which arent too far away from them) We talked to them and agreed upon a research treaty. Meaning they send us research resouces…we gave them some useless tech for it.
Another race gone gaga.

Finally we spoke to the Korath and they too promised to send us research. They were somewhat more greedy, wanted Sensors3 plus 2 other useless techs, but we could live with that. Gaga I say, gaga!

Last but not least we have finally spotted some drengin fleets operating deeper in Korath territory. And then our sources told us about an operation that was really to our liking. The drengin planned to take out the well-defended Korath military-resource-mining-base. We sent an constructor toward it…and it arrived just in time to see the starbase going down and we built our own one there. Having 2 military starbases now, together boosting our attack-power by 70%, would help some for sure.

Still, the Drengin could overrun us with ease if they wished so. But we are their buddies, aren't we?

The military outlook is bad, but not hopeless anymore:
We are designing a Large-type Battleship now, which should be able (with the help of the 70%-attack-boost) to be on equal footing with the Drengin frigates, maybe even slightly surpassing it. we just have to find a solution for the problem that the Drengin will have about 10 or 20 frigates for every of our Battleships. But against the Korath it should do well...as we wager we will have to go against them soon.

Another fact loks promising but at the same time scares us somewhat is that about 60% of the galaxy is under our cultural control. Sure, that means 60% of the galaxy accepted out superior culture, has seen the wonders of evil and believes in the wonderful purity of pain. So far so good. Unfortunately that also means we got lots of space to defend and most of the Korath's planets are embedded within our territory now, which is an slightly awkward situation. But that only makes it more important to take them out. Time for our Battleships to get built...

Turn of the Tide
(Or: A tribut to the Drengin, the useful fools)

(ooc: I guess nobody reads or better likes my eruptions of evilness, but since it's absolutely the first game that is somewhat tough to win, I'm going to continue anyway )

A mere few weeks after we had crushed the Scotlingas and the Jessuin the Korath and the Drengin again made peace. Bastards, traitors, cowards!. Only a few weeks before we wanted to jump in and attack the Korath too in their weakened state.

The Korath were only under unaccaptable conditions willing to attack the Drengin again. And even the Drengin were somewhat reluctant to do so. Finally we agreed upon a joint declaration of war and a financial compensation for the Drengin. It was not a good timing for us, since our troops were too shattered and a much-needed wave of top-notch-Battleships was a few weeks before the launch - yet we didn't want the Drengin to retreat first from the battlefield, giving the Korath time to rest.
So, war broke out in 95% of the galaxy (5% being the Amatons who somehow managed to live quietly in an alcove surrounded by the Drengin…still…. Mwahahaha!

War started and it began badly for us. In the first 2 weeks we lost several older frigates to the Korath and a major blow was dealt to us when the Korath destroyed our 2nd military-resource-starbase (yes, the one that earlier was theirs, but got destroyed by the Drengin for us)
The Korath also launched a massive wave of Spore ships, but we had anticipated that a year ago already and planned accordingly. Spread throughout our whole empire was a fleet of Intercepters, which -even though designed over a year ago - was still superior in speed to everything the Korath could muster. They shot down the majority of the Koraths spore ships and so only 1 minor planet fell in their hand. And even that planet we gained back a mere 2 weeks later.

Soon afterwards our defenses were better structured and our brand new battleships held ground greatly against the Koraths ships. (ooc: meaning they could shoot down 1 Frigate and then could fly to the nearest planet for a lengthy repair )

And finally the Drengin kicked ass. They really did. They ripped one planets defenses after the other. Their only weakness was: They had not a single troop-ship available. What the hell? The empire with the most planets, with the most population, with the best economy…not able to launch a single troop-transporter? Now, we didn't want to complain. We happily filled that hole and took over 1 korath planet after the other. Besides the much needed room for the development of the pure evil, we also gained many greatly advanced technologies. The most noticeable came to us when we conquered the 4th Korath planet. The Technology was called "Subspace Annihilator". Heureka! While not immediately applicable for honourable evil purposes it opened up the research towards a weapon that was much too our liking, the Doom Ray. Doom, yes Doom…that was something we must have. Asap.

While our scientists grinded slowly towards that weapon we conquered many Korath worlds. But then we have seen the first foreign Battleship of the galaxy…in the hands of the Amatons? Holy hell…weren't they the Neanderthal men living in some backwardly part of the galaxy? And even more shocking was the fact that they already HAD applied the technology of Doom Rays in them coupled with a decent defense against beam weapons. Beam weapons? Who in the galaxy uses beam weapons? Right…that meant US. Goddamn nimrods! (ooc actually the Korath also used Beam weapons, while the drengin relied solely on missiles, having gone up to ultimate meanwhile)
While still being in shock we used the time and watched the Amatons "empire" a bit more thorougly: They had 8 planets and…and…and…3 starbases, starbases we must have ourselves: 2x Starbases that will increase the moral in an empire as well as an economy-booster.

There was no chance that we could fight another war right now, the Korath still bound all our military resources. So…how could we get those starbases? Money? No way. Technology? No way. Hmm, who is the village idiot of the galaxy? Right…."Diplomates, I want a meeting with our friends, the Drengin".
Some money sent their way later they were going off against the Amatons and that was really fun to watch. The starbases were targetted first - and promptly taken over by us.
Then for months there were many extremly entertaining bloodsheds. And so far we have yet to see a single Battleship of the Amatons going down, but tons of drengin frigates were blown to pieces by 'em. 2 planets of the Amatons were lost regardless to the Drengin (horray for them for the discovery of ground-warfare!), but that was fine. The Amatons now held a tiny cluster of planets, but defended that really well against the Drengin. Fleet after fleet of the Drengin went down there. Wonderful. Extremly wonderful.

Meanwhile we slowly wringed the Korath down. We took heavy losses as well, but planet after planet changed ownership. Then we have seen a ton of older Korath ships changing ownership to the Amatons. What what? Why didn't we have this idea first? (Half of our diplomatic corps had to pay with the lives for that slackness). Anyway we sold the Amatons pretty much every of our useless ships (rocketboats, cruisers and out-of-date-Frigates) and got for that the best-imaginable factory-technology, as well as the ability to boost our starbases to the maximum.

Let's face it…this galaxy is ours now. The Korath are nothing but a shadow of their former selves. Despite their recent discovery and construction of several Battleships they won't be able to withstand us. We will suffer losses as well, but what are a few billion soldiers life in the big picture of spreading the purity of evil through the universe?

The Amatons will hopefully be weakened by the Drengin and someday their planets should be ready for easy invasion by my glory troops.

The Drengin are still military superior, but also them won't - when the day arrives - be able to withstand our forces now that we have twice as many planets, which we can when necessary use to pump out unimaginable fleets which will crush the Drengin. Funny point is…those fools basically paid for all that. Oh how we like the irony of that. Those fools paid for their own defeat with their money and the life of their soldiers.

Every village idiot has its use, we know we do have a use for them…but not for much longer….

(ooc: I will probably stop here, unless some mega event should completly screw me up. The game should be won now and it's just a matter of grinding 'em down. And nobody apparently cares about pure evilness anyway..or you all are just scared…because you could be the next that must be it, yeah yeah!)

Noooo. Keep going. This is a good tale and i am looking forward to seeing it through to the end.

Of course it's evil nature is somewhat appealing to me...

What's left?
Us. And little else.

The drengin quit eating others - unless we specifically permit it that is. The galaxy listens to our music, parties are started and finished by torturing-orgies. in short: the galaxy does what we want it to do.

So, what happened since our last report to you, my Master, to make the galaxy intoi such a wonderful cruelsome place?
The Korath succumbed to our wrath, no big deal. Then we took the first few of the Amaton's worlds. Again no big deal.
Well, then something unexpected did happen. Throughout the galaxy planets formed a "Jagged Knife" alliance and numerous planets left their empires. A total of 22 planets changed hands, 12 of which were ours.

At first this was shocking news to me of course. Especially since some of our most needed planets were among the defectors: A famous planet, which could build incredibly strong warships. Some of our best economy planets. The planet that held our Hyperion Fleet Manager and....wost of all...our fantastic planet with the Artificial Slave centre, to which I have so many pleasant rememberings.
Even worse, on our super-duper-ultra-ship-planet the Jagged Knife got hold of our very first Dreagnought-class ship, which was -at this time- THE most powerful ship in the galaxy. (ooc: I had bought this ship the turn before the jagged Kife event and due to this it fell into the hands of the Jagged KNife, while all other ships that were in orbit of the new JK-planets got launched and stayed in my posession).

(ooc: if you look at the map, my homeworld is in the bottom left/west corner. the planet right of it had the precursor Mineand the planets north of it wee the first once I had colonized + conquered from minor races. 3 heavy economy planets were there and as well as all achievements I had built except the eye of the Universe, so that hurt a bit )

So, at first this felt like a mortal blow against our empire, especially since a quite large part of our warships was in the Amatons territory (well, admittedly, they didnt have much of a "territory" anymore...).
I spent quite some time getting through all those reports and thought what to do.
Then -suddenly- I realized that this might turn out to be the best thing that could have happened to us:
- Ok, the Jagged Knife got that 1 warship of ours, but that could be dealt with (well, it cost us quite a few of our ships to finally destroy this one...). But beside that...the planets were defenseless.
- Beside our planets they also took numerous planets from the Drengin - and well...we could now take possession of those worlds, without somewhat upsetting our "friends". They might actually cheer us for it, hoping we might return them into their hands …or something. Well, we already talked about being the local idiot...
- Our industry was mass-producing troop ships already, while the drengin had about non at all. (Of course we got the drengin to declare war on the JK right away, no doubt there)

The comming weeks and months proved to be highly entertaining:
We took back most JK-planets, but admittedly they were technological highly advanced by combining the technical achievements of us and the Drengin. Yet, we had the numbers. Among the unspeakable pleasure those mass-assaults gave me, we also gained possession of several ex-drengin technologies: ultimate Rockets, highly advanced engines and a lot extreme-colonization-technologies.
Oh....and one of the ex-drengin, ex-Jagged Knife-planets proved to be truly extraordinary... apparantly the drengin had built the Tri-Quan-training-center and the Hyperion Shrinker there. That Nesro II also held a Manufacturing Capital is almost neglectable compared to that. Whoopdie-dooo...its ours now!

Oh, before I forget...a galaxy-wide plague broke out sometime. We found the cure quickly and only 20, or 30 or 50 billion (who cares about details anyway?) of us died. No big deal. We sent the corpses as a gift to the drengin as a "thank you for our great neighborship". We hope they enjoyed those shiploads full of contaminated hazardous waste...

After a mere quarter of a year or so we had gained back most of our former planets as well as almost all of the planets that formerly belonged to the Drengin.

quickly we took the last 2 Amatons worlds and were now readying ourselves for the Mother of Wars...the war against the Drengin. we had already gathered enormous fleets of constructors as well as many attack fighters for that special occassion…and were just starting to build special ships designed to withstand the massive Drengin Missile-Firepower. We were readying ourselves for the greatest fun of the year, the slaughter of an estimated 200 billion Drengin, give or take a few.

(ooc: in the galxy map you can see that my industry output seems to be zero. well that was an odd bug, I couldn't be arsed to report as well: after the JK-event whenever I bought a ship anywhere it zeroed out my complete industry and research for this turn.)

Then the unspeakable happened. We were informed that the Drengin are about to accept our culture as the dominating one and would only need a few more weeks to come to the final conclusion that we are cultural superior.

WHAT.THE.F***?!?!?!?!?!

How dare they? How could they? Cowards! Idiots! Party Poopers! Wussies!

We quickly ran a few simulations wether or not we could somehow already declare war already in the comming 2 months, but no matter how we looked at it, we had nothing that could yet withstand the fleets of the drengin. Technogical similiar, they simply outnumbered us 4:1 or worse and many of our ships were designed to fight the other races, who didn't use Missile as the drengin did. Just a few ships were really ready to fight them, but they would be no match to the hundreds of the Drengin Frigates and Battleships.

We would be able to destroy many Drengin ships of course, but that would be just a drop of water in the ocean, just one more tortured soul on one of our famous parties. We would also be able to take a handful of drengin worlds, but would suffer heavy losses there already, since they were all well defended. Our intended weapons-of-choice, an armada of suicide ships, was far from being ready to do any noticeable damage.
So after a few minor vitories right after the start of the war, the Drengin would blast our whole fleet with relative ease, no doubt there.

We will forever curse the day the Amatons tricked us into exterminating them, but lamenting won't help anymore. Guess we are bound to live with those brickheads in the same galaxy, pretending to be friends or something.

(ooc: also, the bug as described above pretty much took meany chance for a win at this stage. I needed those heavy dreadnoughts quickly, I had the income to buy one every 2 or 3 turns, but that would have meant zero industry/research for 1 turn. so neither way I could have gotten the ships I urgently needed quickly enough...)

The party is over. Goddamnit!

Anyway. Mission accomplished, Galaxy secured for you, my Master. Torture it well.

I'm mad now, don't look for me…I'll let you know if I ever want to have some more fun.

I wish you all the worst!

Yours humbly,
Hithesius

Ooc: I could still kick myself for exterminating the Amatons, stupid me, really wanted to beat that big fat drengin military. I tried a few different ways after transmitting the influence vitory and it always looked the same: a complete destruction of my fleet. I simply would have needed 3-6 months more prep-time. Ah well.
Beside that I haven't touched Galciv again since that win, I guess I'm a bit disappointed with what ease I went through all the difficulties and never was in real danger to lose. Sure, I could make it even harder by choosing crappy settings for my playstyle, but that also would mean I wouldnt like the world I play in. So, will have a break from the game, but I'm sure I will be back some day or another. Always went back to MoO2 for years after all as well. And the only savegame I had before that was from even before the JK-event and I couldn't be arsed to replay all those months, esp. after it had turned out so nicely.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! It can't be the end! Ha, great job, you must have had tremendous patients to make this AAR. My attention span is too short...

While I wish you could've ripped those dregin scum apart at the seams, the cookie usually doesn't crumble the way you want it too. Damn cookie, how dare it disobey you!

One thing I'm wondering is on that map, which are the Amatons?

Think about it this way: with the Drengin as your loyal puppet government slaves, enthralled by the superiority of your culture, you can evilly send them as your minions out to pillage and plunder at your behest while you reap the fruits of their labor.

The 2 planets at the eastern side with black-red-yellow "banner". At the time the pic (they are on the upper map, on the 2nd galaxy-map they were already extinct ...) was taken they were down to 2 planets. At the best time they had 7 or 8. 2 were taken by the drengin, some by me (and some of those lost to the JK again, but didnt matter)
