50+ ship pirate fleet after modding

Howdy,

So I did a bit of file tweaking on a separate install to determine how I would like to compose my fleet makeups for battle. I edited all the build times and costs of all TEC ships to a numeric value of 1. I also changed the research times and costs to a value of 1.

After doing so, and launching the game, I had these huge fleets of pirate ships showing up at my homeworld after 10-15 minutes of play. ~50-80 ships in each wave. I made sure to NOT touch any of the pirate entity files.

What gives? Do the pirates spawn at a rate and strength proportionate to the size and strength of the fleets I am building?

The reason is because you had so many ships. See, the pirates send specific amounts of ships depending on the amount that you have, so since you obviously had a large fleet the pirates made sure to send theyre fleets too !

Wow!! Sounds cool! You could win the game quickly if you turtle down and the them take over the universe for you.

What Massive Attack said.

Is there .entity file that I can change to avoid this during my testing or is it more feasible to just mod the pirate*.entity files and give them all 0 shields and 1 hull?

For those of you who read David Weber and the Honor Harrington series, I've been modding the Javelin LRM to act more like the pod cruisers in the latter part of the series.

So far, it's turning out really nicely.

The AI probably researched Insurgency very quickly and you got swamped by them. The pirate data is in gameplayconstants.constants in gameinfo. I gave a tutorial in IRC the other day on how to tweak them in various ways but it should be fairly obvious if you are already figuring out how to mod things.
