Lost Internet access

I recently installed TweakVista on my laptop which was not having internet connection issues until I installed TweakVista and used the Enahanced Internet options setting in the program. I can now wirelessly only connect to the router and my home network, but not open any sites in either Firefox or IE. I tried to change the option back to default but that did not remedy the issue. I also tried to roll back to a restore point which inexplicably failed altogether. I assumed it was a DNS issue, but I confirmed that the settings to automatically get the addresses from the router were checked like all of my othe computers connecting wirelessly to the router. Please tell me which settings TweakVista changed so that I can fix this.

Bichur: Yeah, yeah, I heard it the first time.

First, ensure that in Services, the first "Condition" box is ticked. If it is not, then tick it, and check again. Failing that...

Open registry editor (start: regedit)
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
In the right pane, note the values of MaxConnectionsPerServer and MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server, then right-click and delete them.

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dnscache\Parameters
In the right pane, note the values of MaxCacheTtl and MaxNegativeCacheTtl, then right-click and delete them.

Open a command window in elevated mode (start: cmd, but right-click on the CMD shell and select to Run as administrator)
Type:
netsh interface tcp set global congestionprovider=none
netsh interface tcp set global ecncapability=disabled

These should reset the Internet settings back to the default values.

As an aside . . do those settings affect IE only or do they work with FF too?
If it's IE7 only, the description texxt may need to be updated and the "Internet" label cahnge to "Internet Explorer" or some such thing.

Who uses anything but Internet Explorer?

The HTTP settings affect IE and everything else that uses Microsoft's HTTP libraries (a surprising amount of things). The Network settings should affect all net-using programs. So, it's not just IE that gets a boost.

I'll let you in on a secret, though: There's actually a set of Mozilla/Firefox-related controls beneath the Network Settings area that would in theory allow you to tweak certain settings, but it proved too problematic to reliably change them (Firefox doesn't provide an good interface for doing so programmatically), so it isn't visible and don't do anything. This might change in the future.

I have been searching for weeks for the solution to my slow Internet Connection problems (wired or wireless). I am the the head "geek" at my church and couldn't stand having a slow Internet connection. I installed Tweak Vista a while back, played with some settings and forgot about it. Turns out, the "tweaks" performed by this program were not compatible with the WRV200 Linksys VPN router used at the church. Just wanted to pass this along in case others had the same situation. Thank you GreenReaper for providing info on how to undo those settings, you have really helped me!

Did this solve the issue? I've experienced this problem twice now, and both times I had to reinstall my laptop. Wish I'd seen this tip a bit sooner :)

I'd like to be able to install and use Tweak Vista, but if this is a common problem I really don't wanna go through all the reinstall procedures again :\
