nope this time it will be global constant. People everywhere screaming the weather has NOT CHANGED at all in 20 years, we are all going to die.

So that someday, Earth will be a Sun! Seriously, though, if we're getting 4 inches closer every year, maybe some years we get 4 inches farther away again. Maybe our orbit isn't always the same pattern.

On a very serious note, if we can coordinate everyone above the equator to fart at the same time we should be able to move the earth four inches further away from the sun.

Stupid inches. Round to miles forever, because there's 63,360 inches in a mile. So, every 15,840 years, we're a mile closer. And there's 821,190,000 miles to go. We'll be there in no time. 13 trillion years. No time. I hope Jesus has come back by then.

That's actually more disturbing than funny.   

The ability to guess about things has been around for generations. In fact, that's how evolution was created. Someone guessed it! Someone once guessed the sun went around the earth, and people said, Well done!

Proving it is much more difficult.

and finally, speaking of warming, i recently heard something funny. if you build a man a fire, he will be warm for the rest of the night, but if you set a man on fire, he will be warm for the rest of his life.

I've read a lot of the global warming posts here and I seem to have found something very interesting about the people that yell that global warming doesn't exist.

I'm not saying that I think that what the left says about it is true (you could call a average global temperature increase "Global Warming" if you want).

so I plan to play devil's advocate for a moment:

What I find interesting is the evidence that is being used to discount it all, stuff like a prediction of really bad hurricanes in 2006 and 2007 that didn't come. Many of you people say that because of this global warming is not real, among other stuff. All I am saying is take a hint from your own suggestions, wait 20-30 years to see what happens then make your statements, no one can predict weather, it is an unstable non-linear system that even the smallest change to the initial conditions can create drastically different results, so who knows, i sure as hell don't.

A few other things that I think don't matter that the original poster said:

1) no consensus
Who cares, 2000 years ago there was no consensus that the earth was a sphere, it is what it is and consensus isn't going to change that, if global warming does exist because of our actions then it is happening, as I said, consensus isn't going to change that.

2) previous theories (global cooling):
science always has lots of theories, some are more outspoken than others, people used to think that space was filled with a liquid like ether, the church thought that the sun went around the earth. Theories that were proven wrong, and who knows, global warming may be proven wrong too, all I am saying is that you can't use a previous theory to disprove a current one, that's like me saying that because the theory that the sun went around the earth is wrong then earth going around the sun is wrong too.

3)Ethanol may cause harm to environment too.
So may holding a lighter next to my ass and farting. Ethanol may cause problems, solve one problem with something, and that something causes another problem. Growing your fuel is probably better than fighting for it though.

4)Stuff about if gore is successful
fallacy, plane and simple, slippery slope to be exact, the fact is that no one has any idea what would happen

all I am saying is that the stuff you all say proves or discounts global warming is just as flawed a the stuff that supports it. I'll say it again, wait 20-30 years and when/if nothing happens that was predicted then say that it was proved wrong and discount it, until then, i guess we will all see what happens.

I agree with you guy, every theory needs to be questioned, that is how we progress, but passing judgment on it before it even has a chance to play out not something that we can allow ourselves to do. And that is what some people here have done, I say let it play out before deciding if it is correct and for atmospheric science that can take a while. Someday we may know if the stuff that global warming suggests is correct or not, either way we, as humans, will have learned something, that's the point, we can't pass judgment too quickly.

you see the whole point of blogging is to express how we, each and everyone of us feel, NOW think, NOW, not wait for 20 or 30 years to pass before we express an OPINION.

I think the whole global warming bit is overblown, yes it happens the earth all by itself, long before man was here, had great cycles of cooling and warming, that's what I believe this is just another one of the natural cycles of planet Earth.

Yes the water is warm and heated with debate!
