MacGuyver
We are currently having MacGyver re-runs over here on FX. I have never forgotten how great MCG was to watch and am finding these re-runs just as enjoyable as the first time I saw them. Mac never ceased to amaze with his titbits of “life saving” and problem solving ideas. He always got himself out of a scrape with the simplest of tools. I am looking forward to watching him again. Actually, I wonder if I can get the series on DVD in box sets. I have not seen them around, are they available?
I remember back in the late eighties / early nineties a bunch of girls aged between 6 and 16 had disappeared in South Africa. One of those snatched girls was locked in a cupboard; she pulled a MacGyver trick and escaped. She had sat in the cupboard prison and thought what would MacGyver to in this situation, she thought it through and worked her escape, the exact details of which escape me now. Fact is though MacGyver saved her life indirectly. She escaped the cupboard, escaped the house and ran to freedom, her escaping resulted in the subsequent capture and deaths of the culprits credited with the disappearance of 5/6 girls (who to this day have never been found). How many more could have disappeared were it not for the MacGyver TV series?
So the above true story shows that TV shows can also be helpful and not harmful.
What a pity MacGyver does not make a come back!
A dish back then

And still a dish today
