What Would You Ask A Republican Congressman ?

I was just cleared to interview Congressman Joseph Wilson (R-SC).

The interview will happen in the next week or so. I thought I might throw it out to JU readers to suggest questions they might ask.

I will be submitting questions in advance for the Congressman, so no "blindsides."

The primary topic will be one that is of great interest, immigration.

I would ask what constitutes victory in Iraq. I would ask if he thinks a military victory is possible in Iraq and if not why are we still there.

As far as immigration, I would ask if the federal government is going to work with the local communities to address concerns, access to Rio Grande for cattle & irrigation, environmental concerns etc., before erecting the fence. I would ask how enforcement of the new law would be any different than the current legislation.

I would ask about legality of holding enemy combatants indefinately in Guantanamo Bay. I would ask about the legality of whether it is constitutional for them to not know the charges against them or have legal representation denied. I would ask if he approved of "enhanced interogation techniques" and if he would still support these same techniques if they were used against our captured soldiers.

I would ask who he supported in the presidential campaign and why? I would ask what he thinks of the job the current administration is doing?

thanks for the questions. i don't know if we'll talk iraq. joe is in a "ruby red" district, which includes paris island and the marine air station. we'll see. i mainly wanna see where he is on immigration. it's a pretty big deal to him as well.

these are pows and as such can be held until the war is over.

again these are pows, they are not citizens of the USA so the constitution does not really apply to them. It should but it doesn't.

i think the current admin is doing a bad job. but i also think that the two that ran against him would have done a worse job.
