I dont know what version of DX it is. How do I check? It is the one that comes with the DesktopX Destruction V2 theme. Built in.

If i right click each bit of the player (play button etc.) and go to the object properties, in the DX Configuration > User Preferences I have selected "Internaal (Windows Media Player)"

When I click play or anything like that... nothing happens

right click on system tray icon->"configure DX" and the version is show on there

did you try to set "none - let DXplayer decide"

It should work fine with using internal WMP. It sounds to me he needs to clear the DX cache.

I'm at work and don't have all the instructions here. CorkyO wrote an article awhile back on the topic. Clearing the cache should fix this problem. I'll check the forums and post a link to the article when I get home tonight, that is if someone doesn't respond sooner.

Oh, I see. Did you delete the DesktopX subdirectory found at C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock? Please check this carefully (this is how you clear the DesktopX cache). Does Media Player work on its own? If you did clear the cache and Media Player works on its own, then I would say you might have some type DXPlayer plugin problem.

Well I'm not sure. I would say if Media Player works on its own, but DXPlayer objects and widgets don't then submit a ticket to support. I can tell you in my DX plugin folder I have DXPlayer.dll version 0.9.0.4 size 16KB and it works fine. Sometimes it has stopped working and clearing the cache fixes the problem. Has any DXPlayer widget or DXPlayer object worked on your machine before? *Edit* I also have in my DesktopX SDPlugins folder DXPlayer.dll 1.64.0.104 420KB. There is also a DXPlayer text file in the Plugins folder which contains some interesting info including the fact that some Media Player addons interfere with DXPlayer these files should be in your DesktopX folder. Check you install and see what you can learn there.

Im not really experienced with this stuff. Would it not work to like copy someone elses file into my DXPlayer? Or reinstall it? Would this mess with the theme?

i made a movie to show you how clear the cache set player preferences and how know the version of DX. just wait the time to see it

the folder where deleted files to clear the cache of DX:

C:\Documents and Settings\%Username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\DesktopX\CurrentTheme

be sure DX is unload before clear the cache.
then after reload it and your object/theme.
If it's a widget the folder is there:

C:\Documents and Settings\%Username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\DesktopX\WidgetCache

delete the folder of your widget (be sure it is unload too)
then after reload it.

Don't worry that only clear the "temp" files not the widget/object/theme itself

then for the other see the movie and let us know your DX version and if that run or not.

to see it in full size go here
