I, American

Just me, one man under GOD.

I SEE ALL THIS I AM DEMOCRAT,I AM LIBERTARIAN, I AM REPUBLICAN SURE TO COME, WELL SCREW THAT

I AM AN AMERICAN FIRST AND FOREMOST!!

I'm a American! and I love my country.

I'm a American and A JEW.

I am a American and I think it's a compliment when you call me a Patriot.

I am a American and I think the ACLU Is a dangerous organization bent on pushing a secular progressive life on a country founded on Judeo Christian Values.

I am a American and I think the United States is the world police. We Must be or the world will go the hell faster than it already is, who will protect nations that cannot protect themselves?

I am a American and I think "the golden rule is the way to live life"

I am a American and I am not willing to throw away our freedoms for a false feeling of safety. But I am willing to let the Government to its primary JOB, Protect Americans from those that would harm us.

I am a American and believe that my country IS BETTER than torturing prisoners, EVEN if a few lawbreakers do so, they are harshly punished for it, because We as a country do not torture people, even if they torture us.

I am a American !!! and Proud of it!!

I am a American that fought for his country and I support our troops. I want them to come home alive, and winners.

I am a American and I want my Constitution back! No More Judges finding things in the constitution so they can change laws, such as finding the right to abortion as part of the right to privacy. NO MORE!

A huge thank you to loca for starting this, for Gid for inspiring me to write this, to doc guy for allowing me to be a prophet for just one moment in time.

Hey, you took my last line! (LOL!)

I agree with you, mod. I am an American first.

But the "big two" were represented. Had to put in my side as well.

I think we're seeing a dangerous trend. The trend to declare "I AM A _________ and proud of it!" ::
But otherwise, excellent words from MM. Don't feel so alone, though.

Actually, I thought the point of those raised interesting talking points, just as this one did. And I believe that was what they were meant to do (at least mine was).

We have a problem with stereotypes. All of us do. It's human nature, and it's not always a bad thing. It's a biological thing designed to protect us from danger. If we label potential threats it makes them easier to avoid them. The point I see is that we need ways to see that people are not stereotypes. That other things define them, and that other things matter as much or more.

(for the record, MM, the joke about the last line was a well intentioned jibe. I personally am proud that you appropriated the single most important line from my article into yours).

I see right after I Posted this "I am conservative came out from doc guy"

Yes I did steal your last line, but in my defense the constitution belongs to all of us.

I think when it becomes more important to people about what your particular politics are than the fact we are all American it is a problem gid.

Yea, I guess this is one of those multi threaded ones!

I like yours and wish I had thought of that!

If that is the case, then yes. That I am an American is for me a given. The only corporate identity that is more important to me than my identity as an American is my identity as a Christian (which is why I didn't belabor the point about Muslims considering themselves Muslims first, Americans second...would be hypocritical of me to do so). But my corporate identity is secondary to my individual identity, which was what my point was to try to define.

Please take these comments as discussion, not as criticism of an excellent point.

Good discussion points gid. I take them as such, I too hold dearly to my faith in GOD as a Jew. When asked "what are you" by people I Identify myself as Jewish" Odd huh?

I get your point. I am an American first and foremost too. The intent of my original article was to refute the generalization that Democrats are godless, traitors who hate America and want to see America defeated. I do think that religion is separate from politics but I just wanted to make the point that Republicans don't own all the religious in this country. There are religous Democrats. They just aren't as vocal and organized.

I'm tough and I'm Texan with a neck good and red.

Elton John said that and I've always kinda (more or less) identified with it.

i never said it wasn't. but honestly, i didn't read yours till after it was posted. actually, it sat up on a screen for a couple hours after i read gid's, guy's loca's and rightwinger's "the war as i see it" post that started all this. it sat up in a minimized window on my tool bar while i got some business done and did some other things on line. but that really doesn't matter.

cause i was agreeing with your approach. it was nice to see that someone else took the same approach, identifying themselves as an individual essentually instead of a cog in a machine. why the pissy attitude?
