Like Fire, Fear Spreads When Given Plenty Of Air

fear mongering continues....

Recently, the White House continued on it's fear mongering campaign, instead of actually dealing with national security or anything that actually might do some good. This week's laughable JFK plot was just another example of rhetoric and fear over facts and reason.

The Bush appointed US Attorney, a group that has recently been scared into loyalty or face firing, announced the plot, describing it's results to be "unthinkable."

Yeah, they were unthinkable, as in impossible.

OF course, this isn't surprising from an administration who just a couple weeks ago contended that a few wanabees were going to go into the heavily fortified Fort Dix complex and somehow terrorize our military. A group that was so competent and skilled, they were found out by a Circuit City clerk.

What the administration failed to mention is that their description of the plot and the results of such an attack would defy the laws of physics, not to mention common sense.

Jet fuel isn't gasoline, and isn't nearly as volitile as what we put into our cars. It would take a minute or 2 just to get any ignition at all if one used a blowtorch. And it doesn't spread nearly as fast as gasoline would. There would also be plenty of opportunity to shut off one of 5 or 6 valves before it ever reached anyone. That is if there was enough oxygen, which there wouldn't be, in the pipeline.

And the governement failed to mention just how pathetic, like the Fort Dix crew, and others like the "shoe bomber" actually was. They had no inside information. No intelligence information. No funding whatsoever from anyone. All they had was what you and I have available at our fingertips, "Google Earth."

There was a real danger in relation to the JFK jet fuel pipelines. If someone could manage to shut down 5 or 6 airports fuel supply, it would have an impact. Tho, we probably would find a way to adapt around the inconveniences, like we always do.

What's more stunning than the plot, is the fact that this US Attorney that worked on this case for about a year and a half didn't even know the real dangers or the physics of the whole situation. Whether she was speaking out of her own ignorance or was directed to spew things that simply weren't in the spectrum of reality is anyone's guess at this point.

This is at least the 13th time the administration has used these lame fear tactics where they either hype up some wanabees who are a bigger danger to themselves in all likelihood than they are to anyone else or use sketchy, old info as if it was current and solid.

The following link reprints a transcript from Countdown, which details the fear mongering...

You do realize that with people like you no one really ever stands a chance at doing anything right. I mean, so this turned out to be somewhat bogus, I guess if we would have just let them, at least try even if not successful by any means, you would have been screaming: "All this money spent on security and they couldn't even stop these idiots from entering an airport and stopping an attempt that might have done real damage and might have killed a lot of people". In other words damned if do, damned if you don't.

BTW, I hate to remind you but really, your articles are really starting to have some incredible similarities to the ones Col post. Can't want to find another blunder by this Administration to point to everyone just how down the wrong path we are to people who already know this.

lol...blah, blah, blah,,,if you want to make "col" comparissons, feel free. it's your dime, lol

and i'll stop pointing out that we are on the wrong path when that path actually changes.

Not sure that is what you meant to write as oppose to what you meant to say but I believe I got your point here. Change of path is something you won't get an argument from me, so lang as the change is not to something I would consider worse.

You know Sean, I'd really like to know exactly what it would take to convince you of just how dangerous these people really are.
Let me point something out to you:

Virginia Tech murderer----converted Muslim
Trolley Mall murderer---Muslim
Beltway Snipers in '02----converted Muslims

There are others, too, but these leaped right to mind. They're here, but the heightened sense of alertness has stopped them, for the most part. Chuckle all you want, but I'm glad the Circuit City clerk was suspicious. Pizza delivery guys go in and out of military bases all the time; they would have gotten in, and maybe killed many people before being killed themselves. If they had, you'd be griping because of that, too; you know you would.

The only "path" that interests me is the one that keeps Fundie suicide bombers out of Wal-Mart----and the one we're on is doing that quite nicely, despite the few above-mentioned anomalies, no matter how you deride it and sneer.

oklahoma city - christians

abortion clinic bombings - christians

kkk - christians

ira - christians

mafia - christians, namely catholics.

ETA - christians (who just announced that their "ceasefire" is over the other day, and we are to look out for their wrath)

and the va tech shooter was never shown to be a muslim. only o'reilly and a couple of other irresponsible right wingers tried to make that case, and were discredited.

from his video...

You have vandalized my heart, raped my soul and torched my conscience. You thought it was one pathetic boy’s life you were extinguishing. Thanks to you, I die like Jesus Christ, to inspire generations of the weak and the defenseless people

sounds more like a chritian martyr than anything else.

Rightwinger won't apologize for being a liar any more than the rest of the hateful people on this site will admit to being bigots, plagiarists, etc. I find it hilarious that they have to lie to come up with Muslim threats, like the V Tech thing, when Dateline can catch dozens of "Christians" in a short span ready and willing to molest kids.

Granted, though, they can call the V Tech shooting a "Muslim" crime, even when the guy didn't have a religious bone in his body, but if you call anyone a "Christian" terrorist you have to specifically show where they cited God as the reason for the crime. Evidently "lying for justice" isn't just a lefty tactic these days.

We have something like 15,000 murders in the US every year. The pointy hat crowd here at JU maybe comes up with 10 or 15 instances of people being killed by Mulims in the last ten years, most of those being by non-US citizens or 9/11, and almost all the others not having anything to do with religion. In the future, when they've intimidated, insulted, threatened, patronized enough run-of-the-mill Muslims that they, like their Christian counterparts, start snapping and taking a gun to school or work, then no doubt it will be a "Muslim" thing too.

Wow, so much hatred. You would think someone in here called you a Muslim and got you arrested or something. If you dislike the people on this site so much why do you keep coming back and replying?

This is like one of those things like in Howard Sterns movie "Private Parts" where the radio stations are trying to figure out the statistics of his radio show. A large % of people don't like the show but they still listen to it. Reason for doing so? They wanted to hear what he would say next.

I don't come here just for Muslim discussions. I do have to tolerate people like Rightwinger flitting from blog to blog spreading lies though. It's kind of cute how you call what I posted hatred and not the constant whine of how Muslims are a threat to us. Tarring millions of people because of their religion is probably validated by the insanely small number of attacks by Muslims here in the US.

I don't post here anymore, but I still browse the forums from time to time. You're right though, I should just give up completely. If you can tolerate that kind of hypocrisy without giving answer, enjoy. I'm tired of being characterized as hateful for addressing hateful lies like the V. Tech thing above.

baker wasn't spewing hate...he was harsh, and a lil over the top, which is his style..maybe i'm just used to it.

i hope he does continue to post around here. not because we agree all the time (or most of the time), but because he obviously cares about the things he cares about and has a valid viewpoint, as you do chuck. and as long as i am not being insulted on my own blog (which baker is flirting with on another thread as we speak)all are welcome to discuss and debate.

but since stardock hasn't or can't devote any resources to fixing the blacklist bug, all that can be done is deletion of comments for those who are not welcome.

and as far as my list goes, there is only 1 lil lyin hypocrite who is not welcome on my site currently. and another who has me on a list, so i have to in kind.

Actually you don't have to tolerate anything. Simply not hanging around places that put you in a bad mood is all you have to do. I really ment to say anger but I guess I didn't realize I had put hatred. I said it cause I have seen the last few replies you have made in several different articles and compared to how you posted before you sound as if you have been betrayed by everyone on this site. Your replies don't sound like you are mad at everyone cause of some kind of stereotyping of Muslims but more like someone did something to you and you are expressing your anger thru these replies. But that's just my opinion. I liked they way you expressed yourself before and while I am not criticizing you opinions I am pointing out the way in which you are saying it. But hey everyone here has the right to feel how ever they want. I was just more curious as to why all the anger.

I don't post here anymore, but I still browse the forums from time to time. You're right though, I should just give up completely. Well I did not come here because everyone on this site was perfect. everyone has their own mind and their own way of expressing themselves. Sure, some may be hypocrits, some may be idiots, there's one so moronic I personaly think he should be banned, but that's just my opinion. Still I don't care, I do my best to prove my point and if they don't like it well tough luck. I don't plan on changing my opinions to avoid hurting peoples feelings here but I will admit to being wrong or I can be educated into changing my views. I have said many times that I am not expert when it comes to politics.

BTW, where did I say for you to give up completely? Why do people take my questions and somehow turn them into some kind of command or insult? I asked a simple question, God forbid if anyone gave a simple answer. Always looking for something that makes you feel attacked, hurt, insulted. Hell I'm sure poeple like that could find insults in something as nice as "How are you today?". I don't know what ticked you off on this site, but just like you like to reply once in a blue moon to a reply that got your attention and somehow bugged you, I decided to do the same on one of your replies in curiosity of what's got you so boiled up. You may not like being "characterized as hateful" but when you start coming across as hating everyone on this site based on your opinion of some people here such as "being bigots, plagiarists, etc", you should not be suprised to be seen that way. That's like Sean criticizing me for misspelling a word while at the same time misspelling a word himself in the same reply.

As I stated in the other post I meant to say anger not hatred. Guess just was not watching what I was posting. I hope he does as well, , like LW's, I like his style of putting his point across. He knows how to dish and, well up till now, I thought he could take it. But judging by his recent replies I'm not too sure of that anymore, but again that's just my opinion.

thanks for the comments guys. food for thought for all, i'm sure. i too hope that baker continues to post, i just wish he wouldn't throw the bombs around so much along with some of the other inflamatory language...but hey, some wish i would change my style too. and charles, you could probably say the same in some part of your life.

it's funny tho, and i believe that we should all take note, that sometimes our passions and such make these comments get way too personal too often and early. and everyone has to remember that we all want the same thing...safety and security for our country and probably moreso for our family and those we love around us in our real lives. we all relish in being able to "define someone" cause they said something on a blog. when the fact is that usually these blogs are hardly the measure of the person.

maybe that's why when i have these same conversations with people who actually know me as a living, breathing, 3 dimensional person with all kinds of things going on that have nothing to do with this blog or anything of the sort, i don't get the same reactions and need for others to attack me personally.

since the election, i have a hard time having any kind of decent conversation with anyone from the right on this blog. it's obvious that the wound of the election is deep, and like a cornered tiger, they attack when threatened.

where am i goin with this,,,i haven't a clue,,,it's been one of those days. the only good thing that happened today was that my mechanic informed me that the only problem with the wife's SUV was a loose oil filter, not the crack in the system we feared from the slow leak. so , i got off several hundred dollars cheaper.

but again, i ramble...

I take issue with your categorizing them all as "Christians"...no "true" Christian that I know would do such things; they go against Christ's teachings. They're hypocrites, and they're going to hell; they could be classified "radical" Christians, I suppose, and blindly hate just as much as the radical Muslims. That makes them equally evil, in my eyes.
If I was wrong in tagging the VT killer as a Muslim, I apologize; I guess I'm a victim of the MSM, too, then; I saw a clip of his video where he said he did it "in the name of Allah", or something similar. Perhaps he was just rambling. I guess I should feel sorry for him, just as I should all the other vicious, killer savages so beloved, and blindly defended, by SConn and especially Baker.
They are coming, and they will kill you if you let them. You don't believe that, for whatever reasons, but that's on you.

I'm really sorry you hate me so, Baker....I don't think quite so badly of you. I think you're naive and self-deluding, is all. But see, I tell it like it is....you tell it like you think it should be.

Wish in one hand, shit in the other, Baker; see which one fills up first.

i think there is a lot of inappropriate misgivings we get about each other. the comments here today, and on the sex scandal post et al... are evidence of that. hopefully, this post and the comments will serve to do some healing and we can all get back to actually discussing and debating things instead of trying to paint others with broad brushes of insults and the like...at least until the next "blow up" on JU.

as far as the fear mongering rightwinger...oops...there i go again...and i could stand behind the "from my perspective, it's a statement of fact, not a personal insult" shield that we all use...but from your perspective, me calling you a fear mongerer is an insult....so, in order to practice what i preach, what i should say is,...

1st, i apologize for that comment. and 2nd, in regards to your perspective rightwinger, i respectfully disagree. and even if they do try to come here, i am not afraid of any of the bastards and will utilize my 2nd ammendment rights to the hilt to protect my family and national interests. if they pull another 9/11 stunt, i will grieve with my nation, bury the dead and turn to punish those responsible...hopefully, our leaders will get it right next time.

i don't doubt that there will always be enemies willing to go to extremes to defeat theri perceived enemy, that is a given. and as time goes on, the bar for extreme will be raised. but that will never make me fear them or give in to their ridiculous demands.

and one of the great things about America to me is that there are people like you who are ready and willing to show us what we should be worried about. and there are people like me who disagree and have the freedom to express that view. but if anything does actually threaten our shores again, whether your prediction holds true, or it is another threat, i'm sure we will both stand united against that enemy.

I respect that, Sean....I really have nothing against you, or anyone else here. You say you would "utilize your 2nd Amendment rights"....and I'd willingly be right there to help you. Baker, for example, would not; he would be apologizing for them and trying to explain away their behavior. He hates me because, in the later rounds we went, I refused to bow to his oh-so-obviously superior intellect and opinions; I think he's wrong, and I told him so, time and again, and gave him my reasons. Every time he swung, I swung back, and wouldn't back down. As a result, he hates me, and has simply branded me as a racist and bigot so he can easier dismiss my views. Oh, well. Life's rough.

I personally think our leadership has done at least a good enough job in protecting us. In the days following 9/11, it was predicted that it was all over for America; every day now was going to be Jerusalem Lite. Bombings, terror attacks all over. It has not, and I can't ignore that. There has to be some reason, and that's the only one that makes sense, at least to me.

thanks for the comments tho, and despite the dig, it's actually nice to have someone step off their political soapbox and just say that. i'll try to track down your article and leave some comments...today's gonna be kind of a busy day for me "offline" but i will try.

as far as baker goes, i'm sorry but i don't share your sentiment. like many on here, he may take things too far, but like a lot on here, i enjoy reading his perspective, regardless of whether i disagree or agree. he is good at challenging others, a trait i admire and try to do myself. in both our cases, sometimes those challenges get taken way out of context. and sometimes we just simply go too hard at some, sometimes on issues that really don't merit a knockdown, drag-out argument. i've tried to get better at that over the years, i.e.- i try to "step away from politics." but sometimes it's like when ya get off a highway where you were doin a pretty high rate of speed and exit onto a road that is only 35mph or less and it's hard to go that slow. ya know what i mean?

Where's drmiler's quote?

I personally think Baker's gone off the deep end, in some respect. He and I used to get on pretty well, overall; I even got an insightful from him once about an article I wrote about my views on modern psychology. Then we later got into a discussion about immigration, and it was all downhill from there. We got into it about Islam and the war, and it was "Katy, bar the door". That was it.
The comment that earned me the most caustic ire, as I recall, and touched off the real firestorm, was when I said, simply, that when I see a person who is clearly a Muslim, a part of me does get a little suspicious, and wonders what they might be up to at home, or otherwise away from the public eye.
Suddenly, I was a racist and hateful bigot, holed up in my Idaho cabin, writing my manifesto. All because I admitted to a little caution that, I think, is perfectly natural, given the circumstances and the nature of the enemy.

Baker, ahem....disagrees. Vehemently.

WOW what a piss-poor analogy. All of the above were OUTRAGES to moderate christians.

I hear no outrage from "moderate muslims" (oxymoron).

And the MAFIA? What, fighting for Christ hahahahahahahahahahahah! oh my, what a piss-poor analogy.

So are we now to call you a bigot, like anyone here who bashes Islam (the religion of peace)?

show me a catholic church that doesn't take their money. where 's the outrage? it doesn't exist.

eric rudolph survived for years in the carolina hills. the most "outrage " anyone ever showed was 1 general store clerk who simply refused to serve him. he didn't turn rudolph in or report it tho. and only revealed it after rudolph's capture.

his "army of god" organization, which still exists today, without any outrage from anyone.

the IRA was always primarily supported by american irish...and not by people who you'd think radical. but by pillars of our communities.

and bigotry isn't pointing out facts. bigotry would be if i had something against christians, which i don't. i happen to be one. but that doesn't blind me to the fact that christians have committed terroristic attrocities over the years and we don't get "outraged." the christian way, esp the catholic (and btw, i was raised catholic and my children are baptized as such) way is to turn your head and act like it never happened.

You're obviously talking about the mass rioting when Kanye West appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone dressed as Christ in his crown of thorns.
Don't forget the car bombings that occurred when "The Last Temptation of Christ" that killed fifteen and wounded thirty in violence across the nation. No one can forget THAT dark day for Christian tolerance.
Or the violent beheadings of the cast of Monty Python for making the blasphemous "Life of Brian." That sure showed those infidels what the God of Israel was all about.
