"Than'Al, we have arrived at our new home! And not a moment too soon, this ship wasn't meant to hold this many citizens, we are up to four times the original number now of two billion." Thinker told him.

"Thinker. Order this ship to land and call the planet Krepo, in honor of my father. Hopefully we can live peacefully for the rest of our lives here. Thinker...also prepare just in case this isn't a solitary system." Than'Al said this from his cramped quarters in the upper deck. "One more thing Thinker. We need to make Think buildings once again so that we can become the great empire that we both dreamed that we all deserve. And have a Colonizer class ship commissioned as soon as we can make one."

The Torgalian economic system had gone over a series of changes during the journey through the Celest. While growing in numbers they had grown their coffers to a robust 5000 Big Croz.

Immediately after landing on Krepo they created the first Think Building and began construction of the first Colonizer ship.

They bought the first Colonizer outright, so that they could begin to send their citizens around the sector quickly so that they do not become too overpopulated. A few weeks later they colonized New Krepo. Thinker began to relearn everything that he had forgotten during the journey here.

Than'Al thought about their lives, all of their lives. They now had a surplus of 11 billion citizens over their two planets. Instead of waiting for the enemy to come to them, maybe they should be ready with their Defendants for the fight. He ordered Than'Al to finish whatever he is doing and then work on getting some Defendant class ships up and running.

Rosharn was still working on getting some Colonizer ships out into the Celest when the Drengin Empire's emmisary was seen on sensors. They spoke with us (we are hoping that they are not the same as the Drengin that basically annihilated us earlier) and we traded our secrets of planetary enhancement for 347 Big Croz as well as what they call a "research treaty."

In the second month of the new year, the Kroza arrived. We spoke with them and traded as we did with the Drengin, for the same gains as well. A "Research treaty" and 347 Big Croz.

And already the Drengin are extorting from us. They wish to have our ability to keep citizens happy as well as 169 Big Croz. Not gonna happen, even if we are going to be exterminated later. We turned around and sold it to them for 295 Big Croz. Our economic strategies for 299 Big Croz.

After sending out an additional two Colonizer ships, Rosharn finally began to focus on the military and the production of a few Defendant fleets.

After getting one fleet of three produced, named Alpha 1 through 3, all planets that could produce ships began to make Colonizer class ships. The only two planets that can are Krepo and New Krepo.

In the middle of the eleventh month of the second year the Torren appeared. Again we traded to get ahold of their "research treaty" along with 351 Big Croz. We only had to give them our planetary enhancement ability.

I really hope that this game goes better then the first one. I had to Ctrl-N this one already once after almost getting killed. The Drengin are just really too fast at moving around and getting their planets....Makes me sad...Perhaps instead of just focusing on Tech I should focus on Colonies and then Tech...

Great Story, Keep it up.

ive just added the second part of my story onto the post, it's short but it does tell a good deal about the alliances in this system.

Im not going to be able to continue this one due to some major problems with my gameplay. The Torgal got eliminated early by an accidental war with the Drengin, Kroza, and Torren all at the same time. The Drengin just moved around too quickly, it was amazing...

Good news, Than'Al was once again able to escape, and decided that they were going to look for a slightly smaller group of planets to land on, and will not be naming their new homeworld Krepo. Thinker, sadly, was captured and executed by the Torren by stretching. Rosharn thankfully escaped along with Than'Al.

The last fleet of Defendant M2 ships were able to hold off the Krozan ship that was trying to prevent our escape ships from doing what they do best....escaping.

I will be making a new one later...

awwww, so sad.

torgolians can take shelter on our planets if they like but you'd have to make it passed the yor patroling between here and there. it'll be a real pixie. carful of the dark elements unit, they live to kill those things. they dont even have skulls to collect.

anyways write that story soon.

Try toneing down your difficulty level to somthing that is easier for you to play, so tha Torgalians can dominate a sector while doing what they do best, Thinking!

Good luck with the next one,

Fate,

Thanks, I think that on that Tiny I could have won if I had just researched Med. Hulls. Cuz then I could have put my best weapons onto it and dominated with naturally high HP ships. That's usually what I do.

In this one however, I was pure Research and the Drengin had me out researched 2:1. That was just sad...not a lot of planets, and got whipped hard because of it. Got up to about 8 planets while the Drengin had about 30-40 if I counted right.

I Ctrl-N'd a few times to get a new map and I got a beautiful one where I was in one corner w/ a lot of planets and everyone else was in another corner. Sadly, the AI had been reset to Fool and I wiped the deck with them using my Defendant M2 ships, made me very sad...didn't even get to bring out my Medium ships!

Well, I think I will drop it to just below Challenging, I can do challenging if I don't have to worry a lot about my economy, which would be a mixed research-industry game. I will drop it down to Normal I think, 4 opponents on Normal shouldn't be overly hard. Stupid Drengin wont be able to team up so well against me this time w/ the Torren and Kroza. They are really freaking militaristic though, so they lag way behind sometimes in researches (other then military tech). If I can incite a good war between the three of them, then I really shouldn't have tooo much trouble staying alive.

I hope to be able to contine with the Torgal series soon, but the DA campaign is calling me!

Have you considered using the AI super abilities to your advantage? Setup a game with one or more evil AI (e.g., Drengin, Korath, Korx, Yor) and the Altarians with at least one other good AI (e.g., Drath, Iconians, Torian). The evil and good AIs naturally dislike each other so it will be easy to bribe the strongest evil AI to declare war on the Altarians. Since the Altarians are the super organizer, all the good aligned players are forced to come to their aid (including you if you are leaning or aligned good so make sure you are leaning or aligned evil or neutral).

If you are having trouble winning on level challenging then you are likely doing a poor job of building up your infrastructure. Be sure to research the techs that provide bonuses to social, military, research, economic, and morale (e.g., get planetary improvements quickly, in fact I make it one of my starting techs in custom races). In the early game I keep my taxes low so my morale is 100% for a doubling of my population growth rate and save most of the starting 5000BC to support my deficit spending until my stock exchanges come on-line. Only after you have a solid infrastructure:
(1) healthy economic surplus to pay the cost of building and maintaining your military fleet
(2) robust research to quickly research warp (for the speed bonus), weapons, larger hulls, minitrization, and possibly defense
(3) robust production to quickly build your combat ships
should you consider going to war.
Keep the AIs off your back while your prepare for war by keeping your diplomacy high, setup trade, and get them fighting each other in exchange for economic and research treaties. If you align evil be sure to build the Mind Control Center for a 100% economic bonus and the A. Slave Center for a 50% military production bonus, plus evil can research a beam weapon with attack 12 after researching phasors 1 which only have attack 3!
I hope this helps!
