He didn't know what 'Red shirts' are!!!

Unbelievable!!! (sorry co-worker, but I gotta pick on you a bit here, and no, this isn't the co-worker that is leaving soon...)

Co-worker, who just so happens to be the IT Security 'guy' for our area, and just so happened to be walking the halls wearing a Red Shirt had me making light of his Red Shirt, noting that he needed to be careful wearing Red Shirts, especially given his job in the security world....

... only the poor guy had no idea what I was referring to.

Absolutely, dead seriously, the guy had no clue what the implications of Red Shirts and security personnel are and why he should be worried.

I asked the guy if he had ever seen Star Trek (knowing he's not a big time TV watcher now) and he answered yes, and still didn't have a clue what I was talking about.

How do some people get by without knowing these pop-culture references?!?!
