the real reason our troops are in iraq and afganistan

our troops are not there for oil or for the people of iraq or afganistan

they are there for us. to make the world safer for you and me. to make it possible for people like the col. and sean to say that they are there becouse the president or the vice president or whomever to say that they are dieing for nothing.


the troops are there and dieing so that we can go to the grocery store.
so that we can go to the movies, the bars, or where ever when ever we want to go.

i know that you people will tell me that they are there becouse the president sent them there and that is true. but they joined the army knowing that they might be called to go to war. and they reason why they joined is so that if necassary they could protect us from the bad guys.

SO SAY WHAT YOU WANT ABOUT THE PRESIDENT OR VICE PRESIDENT OR WHOMEVER BUT STOP SAYING THE TROOPS ARE DIEING FOR NOTHING. THAT GOES FOR THE IDIOT COL. GENE since he is supposed to have been a col. he should know better than that.

so go ahead idiot col. and almost idiot sean now tell me how bad i am for supporting the troops.

you do not have to support the president in order to support the troops

but you do have to stop telling the troops that they are worthless becouse of the president

our troops are in the army to PROTECT YOUR RIGHT to tell them that what they are fighting for is nothing but oil.

it does not matter why the government sent them there they are their to protect you and me period. they are dying for us not the government.

I'll agree with the first half of this statement. Quit dicking around and turn the troops loose so they can do their job correctly and come home.

Winning the engagement (war) of course. The politicos have made this war so damn PC that the troops are hamstrung. And yes this includes Bush also.

Instead of preventing terrorist attacks on the US the presence of US and UK troops in Iraq is stirring up hate and resentment to a degree that countries are now less safe. Look at the UK where radicals by the hundred are standing in line to blow up their own country (QV recent and forthcoming terrorist trials).

I echo your sentiment - stop dicking around with our boys and bring them out of the quagmire they're in right now.

I don't give a damn what this war was for - safety (bullshit in my opinion) or oil (a much more plausible option), but come on. We've created a culture that's obsessed with the use of military force first and foremost. That's not what the Founding Fathers intended (trite but true) . . . until we realize that military force is supposed to be the last tool we should use, we're gonna keep doing this again and again.

Vietnam ended only thirty years ago. How quickly we forget.

We're supposed to be a better country than that. We used to be. Believe me if the best defense you can come up with is that China and Russia are doing the same thing, we are really in a sad state.
