Summer '07: What movie(s) do you want to see?

... and what is on your MUST see list?

It seems to be the summer of the blockbuster movies, what with Spiderman 3 starting the parade, followed soon by Shrek the Third, the next Harry Potter movie and a batch of other films.   All of which leads to the simple question of what is on your's, or your family's list of films to see?

What do you consider MUST see and what do you think you'd like to see but aren't worried too much about missing until it's out on DVD or cable/satellite later?

I may wind up taking my family for Shrek the Third, and most likely will see Harry Potter with them.

Outside of those, on my want to see is Evan Almighty (the follow-up to Bruce Almighty), but I'm not sure I'd spend the $$ to see it in theatres rather than just waiting for it to show up on DVD.

The next Bourne movie might be good and worth seeing, and Oceans 13 could be cool too, but I'm still smartin' from the beat down that Oceans 12 laid upon me so I'm very leery of paying to see that film in theatres.

The Fantastic Four movie (Rise of the Silver Surfer) could be fun, but the first was only so-so for me.  (Not bad, just not that good.  Perhaps the way I'd describe Spidey 3 having seen it this past weekend).  Would probably be a wait for DVD movie for me, despite the Hawtness of it's female lead character (Jessica Alba).

Angelina Jolie's star vehicle, A Mighty Heart, which is about the kidnapping of Richard Pearl from the perspective of his widow is something I just can't make myself interested in.  Too much Jolie (based on trailers and clip I saw, including a survey about same), and not enough of his story.

Another few films I could mention include Live Free or Die Hard.  Ho-hum.  Been there, done that how many times already?

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End maybe fun, but then again I waited for DVD on the first two, why break that habit?

The Simpson's movie.  Um, why?

I think that covers most of the biggies that are coming, but it definitely seems to be a big summer for movies this year.  One of the biggest I recall.

Will the box office break through and rack up the $$$?  Maybe.  It does seem to be a year that could find people staying closer to home, rather than travelling (thanks to gasoline prices that keep climbing).  If gas prices don't climb too high and eat up all disposable income, then higher prices could help keep people more local, in theatres for movies rather than doing road trips.

It also seems to be a time when prices haven't risen too much for movie tickets and income levels might have caught back up some with the prices we pay for seeing films out.

In some ways perhaps it comes together somewhat as 'the perfect storm' for theatres and the movie industry to have a big year.  Perhaps the biggest on record for them.  The question is will people buy into any of these products, or will people sit on their hands and stay at home waiting for the DVD versions of any of the above?

I want to see Knocked Up by the same guy who did 40 year old virgin which I thought was so funny.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Nancy Drew - I don't know who I'll get to go see this with me but I loved the books when I was a kid. I really wanted to be a private investigator or a detective but somehow it didn't happen for me. I would make a game out of memorizing the details anywhere we were at, license plates, people's descriptions etc. I was a weird kid what can I say. I guess I'm a weird adult now.

Oh and I'm sure I'll be taking my boys to see Transformers. I hope it's good.
