I wish I was more gifted...
I've been told (at times) that I'm a fairly good writer, that I communicate well, and thanks to being somewhat proficient as a typist, am able to use written communication to convey my thoughts fairly well. I don't say that here to pat myself on the back though, instead I'm gonna be humble and say that I really wish I was more gifted in the area of written communication.
Gideon put up an article on the subject that I wish I had the words to write on: Robinson's Ghost Reminds us Baseball is not Colorblind
I wish I could write a beautiful article with a lot of inspirational words looking at how far we've come since the days of Jackie Robinson's debut with the Dodgers. Unfortunately recent events seem to say that we really haven't.
In anycase, I encourage readers to check Gideon's article. I may leave a few comments there, but I think he has covered some issues on the subject about as well as anyone hope to at this point. Gid's piece isn't necessarily a tribue to Robinson, but it does a good job of pointing out that race issues still pervade our major sports, even this long after the day that Jackie Robinson turned the MLB into an integrated sport.
