Moons and/or Gas Planets?

I'm not sure if development is too far along to implement this, but I was thinking that perhaps moons would be an interesting dynamic to add to the game. They would not only extend the gravity well of a planet, but also, when colonized, would provide a fractional bonus to the planet's tax income. It would also be interesting to see if multiple players could colonize a planet and its moons, sharing a gravity well. Perhaps the owners of the moons could pay tribute to the planet's owner as long as they were neutral or friendly to that player.

Gas planets would go hand in hand with this. Though uninhabitible by themselves, they would likely have an enormous amount of moons.

Just some ideas. Feel free to offer your own feedback and expand upon them.

I'd love it, but for gameplay reasons it might not be implemented...but we might get lucky and have the rare single or double moons.

All I am asking for at this point is the ability to make modded/custom maps that have moons and uninhabitable gas giants . That way gameplay wins AND modders win.

Sounds like a great Idea, nothing cooler then duking it out in front of some gas giant.

While were at it, there sould be some type of stations or something that you can build at a star, you know, instead of heavily defening 3 - 5 gravity wells you could build your defenses at the sun. Then it could be taken even further by saying if you jump in, for 5 seconds, solar activity blinds your sensors, meaning that if you jump a scout in and it gets blown up, you don't necesarily know who blew it up. This woul make protecting star systems easier and also add some more difficulty to invading one if another player has 'claimed' it as their own

I agree with all of it.

Being able to build some kind of station to defend the sun or even some dead asteroid planets you don't necessarily want to colonise would be very useful.

Perhaps ownership of every planet/roid adjoining the star could be a requisite for building anything at the star.

How would you build a station at the sun?

You would need a special builder ship or something.

I would rather you could not build stations at stars since it would make invasion much much harder.

Dead asteroids yes, as currently they don't serve any real purpose other then the occasional artifact site or as a intergalactic speed bump.

I would like flaoting cities orbiting gas giants Even a ring ala Conquest: Frontier wars would be great

Ahh, but if what Wedge said is also included and you need to controll all connected planets/asteroid to build anything at the star, or that you need to control the entire star system to build something there, it would be worth it. Even if it's harder ,players who spent time to conquer an entire star system should be harder to invade don't you think?

moons, planetary rings, gas giants = fun and cool.

moons could be used as massive defense stations, projecting shields...a la 'the forest moon of Endor!'
