Possible Kol Battleship Bug.

In the new patch, when you hover the cursor over one of your ships it gives you weapon details. For the Kol Battleship It has three categories. Average Beam Damage, Average Autocannon Damage, and Average Laser Damage.

The Kol Battleship doesn't have lasers does it? At least not to my knowledge, unless thats their to reference the three big cannons on the side. However I thought those were just that, cannons.

Yep, the triple cannon is a laser.

Besides the data files, you can tell from the bolt it throws.

Yeah but it sounds like a cannon, not the canned laser sound on the Carrier, Arcova, Akkan, or all the other TEC ships that have lasers.

I don't think has lasers either, lol...

Yeah I agree with lord, the weapon just doesn't sound laser enough if its a laser. And those three cannons are where the ability railgun round is fired from.

Hey guys,

The weapon is actually a fireball but is classed as a laser... that's a bug. Thanks for pointing it out.

I've never seen it fire off a fireball... Except when bombing a planet it does fire off them white orb things..

I used to like the effects for the Corvette Pulsar lasers and Battlecruiser anti strikecraft lasers in Homeworld 2. Maybe ships that use lasers could use a similar beam effect to what HW2 used to use.

Doesn't look like a fireball, but whatever.

As long as we're ragging on the Kol, has anyone ever noticed that if it's firing its big beams at a ship as it goes to phase space that they'll track it for a REALLY long way? When the enemy goes to phasespace, the thing doesn't realize that the target is no longer available and the beams will track the thing sometimes up to 2 planetary diameters away before wearing out.

Also I found this happens with the KOL a lot....

Yeah, i noticed Kosc's problem as well, long ship names and long ability names run outside the box.

personally, i suggest making the letters smaller, not going two lines.

Try pausing and zooming close to the 3 cannons on the Kol as it fires, and you will see the fireball effect (a very nice one too i might add). The effect is just too small to see from normal viewing during combat. I wouldnt scale it up tho then it will look stupid because the effect will be bigger than the weapon firing it. Like the bombers missiles which are twice the size of the bombers launching them.

The beam lasers have a set rate of fire which is why they keep firing after a ship jumps away. I think the beams fire for about 5 seconds (rough guess). Im not sure if there is a way to make them stop firing until its cycle completes. HW2 had a similar problem with its Ion Cannon beams. If there is a way to stop them from firing after it loses target then it would still need to run its cooldown cycle before they can fire again.

Smaller font would probably help fix the overlapping text issue.

So are those 3 cannons what fire the fireball or the rail gun round?

3 cannons fire the rail gun rounds..... i think.....

The 3 big guns on the side fire the "gauss railgun" rounds which have the fireball effect.

The railguns and the fireball effect
