combat needs to be beefed up

I dont find the combat to be very interesting. One thing may be that the ships doesnt have any obvius role to play. In Sword of the Stars, each ship (depending on which weapon you put on) had a very obvius role in the fleet. A giant dreadnaught with a lot of hull-mounted beams is better for taking out slow targets than fast small ones due to the long recharge time, sins almost only has the flak ship.
in Sins, all ships has about the same weapons, just a little more or less of them. and for me, I dont think the abilitys is very cool to use either since all of them can be on auto. I would rather have that some can and some cant be on auto (like in Warcraft 3, where only some of the spells could set on auto-cast) and since each combat ability has a pretty low cooldown time, its not mega important when you use them.

And in almost all 4X games you can outfit your ships as you like (new weapons, shield etc.) why not make a similar in sins, instead of the locked models you have now. I think it would grant more diversity among all the ships.

and also; the construction time for the ships is way to fast, a lost fleet should be a bigger loss than it is now.

First off this isn't SOTS, this is a RTS4X. Plus all of the AI, TEC, Advent, Vasari, and everything else hasn't been added. Yes building ships in SOTS is cool, but they become nothing but cannon fodder.

I dont think ship design belongs in a game like this. But i do agree on with the OP that captial ships could get a slightly more defined role. Ill admit that as you learn the ships better and better i do see that each have some strenghts etc. But its rather subtle.

construction times could maybe for captial ships be upped a little. But otherwise then that i think its ok. building alot of those and going into heavy fighting, will drain your resources by alot. And building back up a fleet of say 10 captial ships take quite alot of time and resources.

And anyone knows if we will see bigger ships? plz plz plz

Well if we don't someone will be DEFINITELY sure to mod one in. *coughcough*SuperStarDestroyer*coughcough*

I am hoping for a little more variety in my unit choices than what we have, it is nice to have a lot of capital ships, but I forsee the need for more smaller and medium sized vessels in order to fill out the fleets proper, we'll see what they add though.
