Fighter attack more powerful than bomber attack

I checked the fighter stats and found that a fully loaded squadron of fighters does roughly 20% more damage than a fully loaded bomber squadron.

Yes, but fighters do anti-fighter damage, which has a penalty against ships.

Also, i noticed that the guardia (or whatever it is called) flak frigate will attack normal ships, but only if they have shields, and they only do around 3 pts of damage per attack. then if shields ever fall, they stop firing on that target. so that shows that anti-fighter weapons, even though they read as having an attack of 19 have a 75% reduction AT LEAST against ships.

knowing that guardia's couldn't hurt my ships made fighting pirates a lot easier, as i now know how to prioritize my attacks.

FYI, all of the damage-type modifiers are listed in one of the files.

Yea, thanks for the note Kryo, that definitely did help when figuring the hierarchy. FYI guys, knowing what your ships can and can't do is a good thing and good catch on the bug nuke, make sure you post that in Gameplay so that they can take a look at it.

Fighters are useless as is imo I may not be the most advanced sins player, but I dont see their pourpose. I think bombers should be siege weapons and fighters ship to ship to bomber to fighter :/ This would make bombers still useful at taking out structures and planets. A good thing to have in any offensive fleet, especially if you are impatient that ti takes so long to destroy shipyards/mineral extractors. But fighters would be usefull for both defense and offense.

I don't know about fighters being useless. When I attack an AI that has close to 10 Hangar Platforms and a few capital ships, my fighters go a long way to covering my fleet while I pick their defenses apart.
