it don't run out, it's get dropped cause of upkeep costs on your ships and structures. Think of it as money paid to employ people.

I think the problem is though that Upkeep shouldn't degrade what you are getting necessarily but rather have it pay out initially and then take the percentage, because in the current manner if you have 75% upkeep it destroys your economy, and I guarantee you that way the larger you are, the harder it is for you to operate(which while this is true logistically it is still a problem gameplay wise).

Just a thought...

It doesnt run out, but I think it would be better to display the True Income and after-upkeep income rather than just the after-upkeep income.

I agree on that!

if you have trade ships, your economy never dies

So if your resource runs out is there no respawn process ?

If you had good scanners and free jump you could have new roids popping up wherever.

Or maybe with the current system (& scanners) you could capture new roids with constructor ships as they are passing through the system on long eliptical orbits and bring them into orbit around your planets so you can mine them.

Ive was first against the high upkeep ill admit. But after playing some more its not really that bad. As your empiere grows you will turn more and more to trade for your credits income.

Your resources if depletet can be maintained by refinary ships.

As Awac stated, once your asteroids run out of surface resources, you can build refineries which makes them infinite.

Build lots of refineries--refinery ships can extract small quantities of resources from 'empty' asteroids.

Edit: I take too long going through threads after I open them all in tabs

A Ha that's what they are for then... But my biggest gripe is selling of resources to get credits. I think it will be hard for players to strike proper balance for a while :/

True, there is a pretty big difference between getting resources and credits.
I frequently run HUGE surplesses in crystal and metal, while having no credits at all. It'd be nice if this were tweaked a bit, or perhaps if Shift-clicking in the trade screen sold 500 or 1000 resources.

Speaking of the trade window, sometimes i click five times, and it sells 600 of a resource.

Yes making resources a bit more rare sounds like the way to go for me too. It should be that u will more likely buy the resources than sell them if you are at war all the time. Because war takes up resources

I was in a game where i think the resources reached a cap in the black market. I had a to much money and apparently all did, but no resources. I think the price for either 100 metal or crystal was over 2k credits while it only sold for 250.

But it might have been becouse i was playing on low resources. Im not to sure.

Do the acutual option about resources only affect the amount of resources or also the rate at which you gather them?

I've had the price to buy over 5k myself, and gladly paid it.

   ouch

just thought it might actualy be cool to have a system where you could place stuff on the black market for other people to buy. Maybe the AI will have a hard time handling it. But for multiplayer with human vs human it could be cool.

I don't know about that. Imperium Galactica 2 had this and it ruined multiplayer. Reason was simple, no matter what you did, buying ships from the traders was the most powerful strategy. I teched and built many shipyards and I was making wonderful and supper powerful ships... and I got overan by some asshat who bought 2x as many ships with crappy weapons

This one would need lot of balancing in my opinion.

that is what the trade agreement is for

I often find myself in just the opposite situation - no metal or crystal and enough credits to make Bill Gates raise an eyebrow. So maybe it's a balance that WE need to learn.

Then again I always play on Low resources... so maybe that has something to do with it. You play on High, Alcari?

It would seems the low to high resource setting is severe I play high resource that is why i guess i experience the abanduace of resources, making getting credits the only strategic thing I have to do economically :/
