Menu Aggravation

Okay....I've not had this problem before with a skin, but this one I'm working on now is about to drive me crazy. I've imported an image in to use as the menu background on the pulldown menus, and the MS Menus. For some reason, it's not showing up. It says it's there in Skinstudio, and it shows in the window preview just fine. But when I actually apply the skin, the menus are all pinkish/white instead of silver, which is what they're supposed to be. I thought at first that maybe I didn't apply the transparency to the menu item highlight, and it was actually covering up the menu, but no. If anybody has any idea what might be going on, I'd appreciate it. I know it's kind of hard to figure these things out just by telling what's going on, but I'm giving it a shot.

aren't some of the menus actually toolbars according to MS?

I read that here somewhere

Hmmm....I've not heard that. But I've not had the trouble before, and done it the same way in other skins.

How bout a screenshot?

In Lieu of that its always best to delete the images, set the margins at default and try try again.. sometimes it can be an image size that causes the issue.. sometimes ( and ive done this ) you can mistakenly import the wrong image to the wrong place, any number of things can cause your manus to apply wrong. If its not a transparent menu, make sure to have trans turned off also.

upload to a hosting site like photobucket or imageshack (they're free)
once uploaded, the site will generate an http address which you copy then paste into the box that pops open when you click the 'insert image' icon (the little mountain pic above the reply box)

It looks like the first image in the strip you made for the menu item mouseover is messed up. It is a pretty good chance the problem is not the menu background image.

I've replaced both images to see if it's the images themselves, and it still looks the same. This is so bizarre!

What type of image is it? If it's an imported png converted to tga it could be the colour depth. Some programs like Paint Shop Pro need to be told about colour depth/compression otherwise they use defaults.

Couldn't really say for sure without getting my hand on it. This is where WC could do with a WIP section...

Yeah, im also not sure whats causing that. perhaps try using bitmaps first. then replace with png after makeing SURE u have saved them correctly in ur gfx app.

If all else fails.. add me on MSN messenger at the address on my page and ill take a look at ur skin and help u fix it.
