Personnel?

I know LizardWatcher asked this question already in the old forum/site. But could you plz answer it again?

Will personnel be a factor in Sins? For example, the amount of personnel available will affect the ship's performance and the quality of the personnel will also affect the ships perfomance.

In Homeworld: Cataclysm, the personnel controlling the ships will achieve rank and therefore the ship will perform better. (this was removed in HW2) In Nexus, personnel is not as important but has great presence in the game. For example, if a ship is destroyed the number of survivers is recorded. The more survivers the better your score. In Hegemonia, each ship/planet has a unique individual

Will Sins be along that line? Or will it be like HW2 and put as little emphasis as possible on the personnels?

I tend to like the Nexus/Hegemonia system. In that case I can be more involved in the game. (modern FPS squad games are also incorporating this).

No Personnel for ships, but they will earn exp so they can upgrade weapons, hangar and other stuff.

But there will be refugees from planets, as i have understood it. So if you want some of the ppl to survive, you will also have to protect the ships that carries them

Yes I think population is a factor but I don't know about crews for starships, apparently capturing a ship isn't possible so I doubt personnel is a factor.

personnel sound all nice and dandy, but they really are just a major pain in the ass.
in fact I'm considering promoting it to captain.

U know what'll be awesome? If you could zoom in to first person mode on a personnel. It'll be cool especially when boarding a ship. It'll be like a RTS/FPS hybrid (no doubt lizard mentioned this before )

that would be...
machine ruining... I dont think that sort of scale is remotely possible, on any machine.
not, of course, that it wouldn't be cool.

*points out the obvious fact that a ship bording action in FPS mode would take like 10 mins at least, so thats 10 mins where you cant control your empire*

empire tree tool thing. duh.

because you can always afford to run a government while shooting mind-controlling aliens.
