Set Condition One throughout the Fleet!

The Colonial Fleet makes its return - will you be part of it?

After an extended period freezing our backsides off on New Caprica, the Colonial Fleet is back in the game ready to frag a few toasters (and build up the metaverse rankings again).

If you are a new recruit looking to sign up, or a veteran Fleet member ready to re-enlist you are welcome.

Anyone who wants to join the Colonial Fleet can register at our shiny new forum at the Galactic Core Link , all you need to do is:

1) Go to the Galactic Core and register as a member.
2) Send me a private message (I am registered under the same handle) and I will sign you up.

Hey

I just wanted to notify everyone of the fleet that I am going to be doing an article about it in the Metaverse Times/Blog. The article will cover some background(who formed it, why, and how things were) and also call for old members to rejoin and help the Fleet once more.

I will need some help in the background department since I was one of the newer recruits back in the day.

I'll tell you what I know.

The Emperor of the Colonial Fleet is Gekomind, who also maintained the old Colonial Fleet forum. I was one of the first members of the fleet (I believe Shalkto was the first recruit, I was second).

The Fleet rose in the rankings, at one point I believe we were the third ranked empire for a while (a brief while I should add). Things started to cool off after a while, we all started turning our attention to other games. The forum was still quite lively with a small but dedicated core of posters.

A few months ago the forum shut down, though it had been pretty quiet for a while. In a recent e-mail conversation with Gekomind (I tracked him down when DA was released) I found out that he had experienced some difficulties (he could not be specific) that required him to shut down the forum. He was planning to restart it after getting back to Germany from his extended holiday in Australia.

I offered to set up a forum at the Galactic Core, and he liked the idea.

I think that brings us up to the present.

The Fleet is Back!!

Some of you may remember the Colonial Fleet. You may also remember a time when this Empire, like many others, was at the peak of their games. Under the leadership of Geckomind the Empire was able to achieve Third Place, and stayed in the Top Ten as long as I remember. An Empire themed after the sci-fi show Battlestar Galactica(BSG), but it excepted anyone with a friendly embrace of fellowship. Welcoming both new players and veterans it provided a friendly organization to exchange ideas and opinions, strategies and tactics, and just the random friendly banter.
It was a great Empire until the day that communication failed, Geckomind went MIA and great halls and stations of the Fleet’s Forums went into disrepair and silence. A few of its members remained dedicated, but one by one they started to leave, the forums grew quitter and quitter until they disappeared. Due to some undisclosed difficulties Geckomind was forced to shut down the site, completely closing off communication.

But, things are looking up. As the fleet came closer and closer to becoming a ‘dead’ Empire its members began trying to reawaken it. One such member, Prince of Crows, seized the reigns of the Fleet and called out for new members and old to come and join and make the Fleet great once more. Not only that, but thanks to the generosity of the Core’s members the Fleet was also able to establish its brand new forums, making it the sixth empire to join the Core’s growing affluence as the center of the Metaverse.
Reawakened and newly equipped the Fleet is ready to fight the Cylons once more!! So come on come all, old and new members are welcome, those with experience or those barely starting. We will help you all make Galactic Civilizations and the Metaverse fun once more.

Here it is, the last paragraph may be edited or removed because the Times might not want outright calls for membership.

So what do you think?
